Overview: Nice to meet you! My name is Chandler and I am a recent graduate from Concordia University Irvine. Over my four years of studying biology, I was a volunteer as a animal care assistant at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center where I worked directly in the rehab of sea lions and elephant seals, as well as an assistant zookeeper at the Rancho Wildlife Foundation where I assisted in maintaining the enclosures of raccoons, foxes, zebras, and a white Bengal tiger. In addition to these positions, I was a family nanny for three and a half years. Because the parents were very busy with their individual jobs, I was tasked with chauffeuring the two children to and from school and sporting events, tutoring in various middle school and high school subjects, the care of their 4-year old golden Labrador Retriever and the basic management and upkeep of the house. After graduating, I quickly pursued my passion for animals and my career goals of becoming a veterinarian and obtained a position as a pet nurse at Irvine Great Park Animal hospital. As a nurse, I worked directly with clientele and assisted in many animal care tasks ranging from restraint to medication preparation and even assisting in surgery. However, while most of my college career guided me towards veterinarian school, I recently changed career paths which has placed me where I am today. While I still absolutely love animals of all shapes and sizes, I decided to pursue firefighting (just as my father did for 33 years) and I am now a full-time student at Santa Ana College studying fire technology with the ultimate goal of entering a fire academy in the fall. In the meantime as I am so invested in school, I have taken up a middle school and high school tutoring position. Because of my background in various forms of animal care and my love for all animals, I have also begun to petsit!
