Dog lover on 2 acres of land
Pet care experience
Hi there, I have always enjoyed having a dog growing up. I was always the main care-taker of her, taking her for walks, feeding her, and picking up after her outside. In college, I also had a dog with friends that we primarily shared. On summers and winter breaks, I would take him and watch over him as well. I gave been using dogVaca and Rover for two years and haven't had a bad experience yet. If you'd like more than one update a day, let me know and I'd be happy to send you pictures and videos of your pup enjoying themselves. The house has one area of white carpet, so I ask all owners who know that their dog are at risk to mark their indoor territory to let me know . Thanks!

Chad watched our pup last week for a couple days. While he seems to be a very nice man and our pup was happy and tired upon pick-up, some things rubbed us the wrong way. First of all, we got warning the night before that the land around his house had been cleared (obviously not his fault, but still something to note). It was too late at that point for us to back out because we wouldn’t have been able to find anyone on such short notice. The land is completely cleared all around the house. It’s essentially a construction zone. Dirt, rocks and downed tree parts. There is no tennis court or large yard for the dogs to run around in anymore. From what we could see, just a small patch of grass. Secondly, the next day we brought our pup, one of Chad’s roommates came to the door to grab our pup and when we picked her up, we were met at the door by his girlfriend to hand our pup over. It just made us pause to think who had really been watching our girl all day and didn’t feel comfortable with that. The final thing that bothered us was- our puppy (who was 14 weeks old at the time) apparently chewed threw Chad’s computer charging cord. In return, Chad told us he wouldn’t charge us extra for this (as if this is a favor to us), but that she wasn’t welcome back. 1. She is a PUPPY. They chew things. I had also let him know she chews lots of things and recommended things be kept out of reach. 2. What if she had ingested the cord and needed surgery?! You are a DOG SITTER. If she had enough time to chew through a power cord, I don’t believe you’re watching the dog close enough. This was not okay with us and we wouldn’t have returned after that anyway. With all of these things rubbing us the wrong way, we kept our pup home two of the days we scheduled with Chad, and while we could have given him more notice about the cancellations, we just felt more comfortable shifting our schedules to keep her home with us. I would caution others with young pups or very active dogs to look elsewhere for a more suitable environment for play and attention.
Chad was able to watch Duchess at a last minute when my previous sitter had to cancel. He informed me with updates on Duchess and even got her food from the groceries when my friends who dropped her off for me forgot her food for her stay.
Chad house is for sale. Not only was it dirty, he also runs a airbnb with 5 bedrooms. I don’t know about you, but You don’t know who is going to be staying at his house when he is dog sitting. Did not give a me a good feeling. Met him to see if it was a match. Was charged for a dog sitting for all of 15 minutes. I wouldn’t leave my dog there , afraid someone could put her in there suitcase when they left the airbnb .
Molly and Winston came back tired and happy!

Feeding schedule Are they allowed on furniture? Bad habits they may have i.e. going into trash, chewing shoes etc. Can they be off leash if we're in the front yard? Any type of treats they're allergic to/not supposed to have.
A typical day
The backyard is great to run around in. I live on a future development, so the entire property has been clear cut. I also enjoy taking walks a couple times a day. If a dog is great around other people/dogs, I'll let them join me on whatever adventures I have planned for the day.

I work from home so I'm happy to share my day with a dog or two. I enjoy getting up to exercise which would include taking the dog for a morning stroll.
