Your dog's home away from home :)

Pet care experience

Hi there and welcome to my page. If you are looking for a kind, responsible human that will treat your dog like it was their own - then you are in the right place! Me and my partner are both 27, work from home and have a small terrier mix called Oskar ourselves - who, by the way, we found through Rover!! We have been hosting dogs through this platform for 3 years now and are looking for new regulars to spoil and love since our move to the valley. We have done extensive training with Oskar because - you guessed it - he’s a terrier after all and very, very smart. This has allowed us to gain insights into dog behaviour but also best practices for training, care, etc.. Alex had a German Shepard Husky Mix growing up, whilst I trained my own smaller Havanese puppy back in the day, whilst also being a life-long horse person and they sure teach you how to be a leader!

My personal highest priority is that your dog feels safe and welcome with us and that you can leave them with a good feeling. Alex, Oskar and I do miss having a doggo friend around since Ozzy really seems to have enjoyed spending time with another pup here and there.

I will require that we meet before the booking is completed, just to ensure both dogs get along. We most likely won’t be able to take on any mini Aussies or very high-energy dogs because Oskar thinks it’s a bit overwhelming. Other than that, usually, females are a bit easier to have around but if your boy is easygoing, then that shouldn’t be a problem either :)

Please feel free to look through pictures and reviews to get a feel for what your dog’s stay with us could look like! At this moment, we will only be able to host small or medium dogs, just because that is what our apartment allows.

Speaking of which - we live right by a walkway here in Courtenay and we love to take the dogs out to the local beaches or trails to have some fun! We'll be a match for you and your dog if: -you want a caring second home for your pup - your dog is laid back around other dogs - it is important to you that your dog gets good exercise and mental stimulation - you are looking for a trustworthy person that can read your dog's behaviour well - your dog loves cuddles and attention - you want your dog to stay more than one night (for first time boarding) - your fur friend is keen to go on adventures here and there :)

Lastly, you can reach out with any questions you may have and I’d be more than happy to schedule a meet + greet with you, too. With care, Celina

Care + home: We live in a nice, clean apartment and your dog will sleep either with us or in their crate, whatever works for you. Our dog sleeps in a separate room but we have always been flexible with our guest dogs (yup that means they get to sleep on the bed sometimes!). Dogs are being fed separately and never left by themselves in the apartment. If your dog has allergies or needs medication, we will tend to those needs responsibly.

Information Celina S. would like to know about your pet

If you could share with me: - whether your dog has any allergies - how many times and when they usually get out for their business - how they are with other dogs, on and off-leash - whether you feel comfortable with them being off-leash - their preferred toys, treats, and activities - their energy level + recall ability - where they usually sleep - when they usually get fed Thank you! We can discuss this in our meet + greet also.

A typical day

We are flexible with whatever your dog needs. Longer or shorter walks throughout the day, we make it happen! We had dogs before that wouldn't get going until 2pm and it was no problem. However, like described above, we do a good morning walk just to get some energy out for Oskar because it makes him much more happy and balanced throughout the day. During weekday stays, we like to go for a walk in the morning locally, and later drive out to some nice neighbourhoods or go to the beach like The Goose or Mack Lang Park. Oskar gets antsy arund 3 or 4 pm and that is when it's playtime and we got out again! After, we like to again, play together or just snuggle up on the couch. Your dog will sure not be lacking in attention and cuddles - that's for sure! On weekends, we would be very happy to have your dog join us for some adventure time! If you are comfortable and it fits your dog's energy - we would love to take them out to places like Seal Bay Park, Miracle Beach, The Goose or Nymph Falls. Another favourite is the one spot trail through the farmlands! Your pup will love it! I too love to entertain their minds with little treat games that keep them busy and content.
