I have been lucky enough to grow up with two dogs in my life, both of whom now live with my parents in Seattle, WA. While our first dog, Bailey, was easy to train and of very relaxed temperament, Wesley has been a bit more stubborn and energetic. Bailey, our shih tzu/ havanese mix is now 14 years old, and while she tries her best to keep up with Wesley, she is slowing down. I have learned the key with her is to remain patient, and never surprise her! (she's become a bit nippy in her old age.) Wesley on the other hand requires constant attention and supervision. He loves to play with other dogs and people, and has require a little extra help with potty training, which has required lots of patience! Though these two have resulted in different experiences I love them both more than words can say, and have learned how to care for dogs differently through each of them. It is important to remember that dogs are just as unique as people, and need to be cared for as such! I can't wait to see what your dog can teach me, and spend time caring for him/ her and creating a loving and trusting relationship!
