Pet care experience
I am very intuitive & observant, which allows me to understand & meet dogs' underlying needs & communicate well with them. I am calm & loving, as well as a naturally strong leader. My many years of teaching preschool students have honed a skill set that naturally lends itself to canine companions. My own dog, Buddy, was a rescue & had clearly been abused. Rehabilitating him was a tremendous learning experience. I like to say that this experience, including our daily dog park visits, earned me an honorary graduate degree in dog behavior. I am a mature, responsible, experienced "dog person" who can be relied upon. I love building relationships with dogs as each dog is as unique & fascinating as the young learners in my classroom! I highly recommend reading The Genius of Dogs by Brian Hare & Inside of a Dog by Alexandra Horowitz to learn more about the fascinating social intelligence of dogs. My availability is currently quite flexible.

Bella loves her!
Cathy LOVES dogs!! Not only does she love dogs, but she is innately tuned into them, notices personality traits and works with them and understands dogs on a level that I wish I had a fraction of. I have known Cathy for 18 years and I can say, unequivocally, she is one of the most conscientious people I know. She will truly take care of your dog as if he or she were her own and follow your instructions to the letter. Hiring Cathy to care for your sweet pup, whether as a walker or a caregiver while you are away, is a decision you will be very happy you made. My pup, Zuko, loves her and so do I.
Cathy is empathic and so attuned to the individual needs of each dog. I've known her for years as a dog-lover and pet-person and I recommend her with the highest praise. Recently she spent 9 days with a special needs, behaviorally=challenged dog that most people would have run from. Cathy made a friend in this dog and her presence was soothing to the pup. If you choose her as a pet sitter, she'll definitely have the needs of your particular dog as her top priority.

Information Cathy L. would like to know about your pet
Any triggers? (strong prey drive, protective/guard dog behavior, food or resource guarding/toy jealousy, etc.) Any history of aggression?
A typical day
I love to walk on trails through the woods, find meadows and open spaces, & allow dogs off-leash time if the dog is reliable & the owner permits. I also enjoy using a chuck-it & ball for fetching fun. I'm happy to take well-socialized dogs to the Ashland Dog Park. If you would like a drop-in visit, I can bring my well-socialized dog Buddy for a fun doggie play date! (Or I can come alone.)
