Kindred Friend 2 Stay While Away

Pet care experience

Hi, my name is Cathleen aka Kate, a wife, mother of 7 (all grown now), grandmother, nature and outdoors lover, active and healthy, animal rights advocator. I have years of experience caring for animals and have owned many pets since early childhood. I understood very young, the serious responsibility of caring and owning a pet. I currently have six pets of my own in my care, 3 of which were rescued. As a pet owner I can identity with facing the anxiety and important decision of whom to entrust with your family member. Let's connect and see if I am a match for your dog's heart and home. I promise to play a ton, kiss and hug, take walks and watch over your precious family member.

I am a high school teacher and have been a friend of Cathleen's family for over a year now. In that time, I have spent a lot of time around Cathleen and animals. I've seen her attend to birds, cats and dogs of various breeds and health levels. She is compassionate, trustworthy and intelligent. Cathleen is a true animal, especially dog, lover. She has an nurturing instinct that allows her to notice and attend to even the most minor, subtle and/or sometimes unusual needs of animals. Animals exist in harmony with her more than any other person I've ever seen. They trust her and surround her. On top of being incredibly adept at attending to animals, Cathleen has integrity and intelligence. She has worked in high level positions at banks and various companies. The types of positions she has held could only be held by a person with a strong moral code, such as hers. If you want a compassionate, trustworthy and intelligent caregiver for your dog, look no further! Just be careful, your furry friend might love her so much they will want to go home with her.

Information Cathleen T. would like to know about your pet

I have always had a dog in my life. Growing up with dogs and other animals taught me much about caring for something else other than me. Our pets were seen as a member of our family and treated as such. I currently own 2 dogs. Dakota, a Aussie, was a rescue senior dog (5 yrs old) and had been dropped off at a shelter due to the family not being able to afford him. We adopted him and within a week he started to have seizures. We now know that this was probably why he was taken to the shelter. We have managed his episodes throughout the years and nurture, love and hold him when a seizure occurs. He is now much older now and slowing down as we see the signs of age setting in. We stand committed to him until he passes on. Lucy Lou is a Pitbull/Chow/Semoyd mix, age 2. We adopted her at 3 months. She has been a huge help to Dakota and helped to pull him out of his shell. He now plays freely with her and they are very, very close, always together. Since Lucy is much younger she hikes with me on long distances, swims very well and loves, loves, loves to run.

A typical day

It is never about "my style" or method. This is YOUR pet, your family member. What works in my home with my pets may not work in yours. "My Style" is to honor your directives of what is best for you and your pet. I get that every dog is uniquely different in temperament and personality, and that you know your dog better than me. I certainly am open to sharing what has worked for me and open to any and all suggestions. Lastly, I like to play, walk, run, hike, swim with my dogs. I am extremely active with them as I believe exercise, getting out of the house and walking in nature is very beneficial for their hearts, minds and bodies.
