Concerned, loving, dedicated, fun!

Pet care experience

Please Note: I am available to house and dog/cat/pet sit, providing your dog and mine are friendly. He is almost 2 yrs old; house trained, crate trained, and goes with me to sitting assignments. He loves other dogs! I have been with dogs (and cats) for more than 50 years, caring for every type from toy breeds, spaniels, retrievers, shepards, large breeds, rescues, and everything in-between. I have cared for all kinds of cats, and kittens, and even an Ocelot for an extended stay, which was thrilling and a lot of fun. My services include, cleaning during overnight assignnents, walking, feeding, giving medications, first aid, daily grooming, trips to the dog park, playtime, travel, exercise, companion and snuggling time, even watching TV together, and singing and reading to dogs. I have come to realize that dogs are brilliant, sensitive, and have bonded with humans by choice. As a side note, the puppy love of my life was my Golden Retriever, Sea Ray. In 2013, she developed a right frontal hemisphere peripheral nerve sheath tumor; the first one of its kind ever discovered in the brain of a dog. Her tumor was removed successfully in May 2014 by Dr. Elizabeth Pluhar of the University of Minnesota. After the surgery, she received immunotherapy for 12 weeks; a procedure that is having success on the human side of cancer study and research. Sea Ray lived until November 14, 2014; far longer than if she had no surgery whatsoever. She passed away peacefully at 10:00 pm in the evening, from complications of liver and kidney failure, IMHA (Immune Deficiency Hemolytic Anemia). I still think about her every day, and I still miss her; but her contributions to dog research, and specifically Golden Retrievers, will make the world a better place for the future of all dogs. More Golden Retrievers develop tumors, than any other breed in the world. Sea Ray touched my heart and made my life better in more ways than I can explain. This is my tribute to her, and to all the dogs that will touch my life from this point on. I can't wait to meet them all! Thanks for reading my profile....it means a lot to me that you are here, and that I had a few minutes to touch your heart and share my story of my beloved and amazing dog, Sea Ray. For the love of all dogs (and all pets loved by their human pet parents) Catherine

Catherine is very much an animal lover. She got along great with my two large pups. She arrived on time and everything was neat and under control when we returned. I would recommend her.

Catherine is a true animal lover. I am so happy we found her on Rover. Our dogs were very loved and well cared for while we were away. We have already asked her to come back to visit again.

From the first minute our "kids" met Catherine, there were kisses all around. Our dogs (medium/large in size and both with certain personality flaws) instantly bonded with Catherine. We had a meet and greet a couple days before her first stay with us, well worth it. Not only did it put the dogs at ease, but also us! We went away with no concerns. Upon returning home we were delighted to see that our house was in great shape (cleaned) and our dogs appeared very happy and content. We will be booking again in the future.

Our family first met Catherine several years ago when we needed a home health aide to assist us in the care of our mother, then age 92. Catherine moved into our mother's home, with her dog Sea Ray, and for over a year provided our mother with love and care. Her presence made it possible for our mother to live comfortably and safely in her home, where she wanted very much to be, until she passed away. During this period of time Catherine provided home health care, and Sea Ray assisted in our mother's care by providing companionship. They were a team. Sea Ray was not in good health and often required physical and veterinary care, and I had the opportunity to see Catherine provide love and care for Sea Ray as well, at considerable expense. Catherine and Sea Ray were close to our family then, and I saw over a period of time that she was both a responsible and loving dog caregiver. Based upon the above relationship with Catherine I can recommend her as a dog sitter without equivocation.

A typical day

Dog parks, if available; regular parks, and areas that most dogs will enjoy. We will play games, re-enforce basic obedience (if needed), fetch, catch, snuggle time, and reading and singing to the dogs - they love music, and seem to know they are special when I sing silly songs to them. In many ways, dogs are very much like children, and while I care for them, they are my babies, too. They are all puppies, no matter how old they are!
