Loving and responsible care of your
Pet care experience
There have been so many amazing cats and dogs that I've loved in my life, I can't even count them. I always seek out pets in need of care or adoption. My furry loved ones have had a variety of behavior and physical challenges but that's just made me love them more. It's also taught me to be patient, gentle, and i've learned all sorts of tricks to get a pill into a cat! My husband and I have one dog (Gracie - a lab mix) and four young cats (Charlie, Cali, Buster and Polly). Besides my own well-loved pets, I've had the privilege of caring for a couple of dozen foster kittens in the last two years. What fun! (Yes, three of my cats are foster-fails - you got me. 😊) I'm excited to meet your pets and be there to care for them when you can't be. Walks, brushing, medication, separate feeding - it's all fine. Whatever they need! You probably want your pets to be in your home where they feel safe, and I have no problem caring for them there - for pet sitting, walking, or just socializing! And if you want your plants taken care of, mail picked up, trash put out while you're away - I'm happy to help with that as well. Looking forward to meeting you and your loved fur babies!

Cate was great! Our dog is very shy with others but Cate won her over. Cate took care of both our dog and cat with great care for the weekend, we will rebook for our next family trip!
Cate is great! My dog is especially shy, so I asked her to meet up with me for a walk before she dog-sits for us. She was all for it! As an added bonus, I enjoyed just walking around the lake with her.
Cate has housesat for me several times, taking care of my 4 dogs and 3 cats, and has done an amazing job. All of the animals have been happy and healthy upon my return, and the house is in the same state that I left it in. I am so glad to have found a compassionate, responsible caregiver for my animals when I travel, and I would not hesitate to recommend Cate to others.
Cate takes such good care of my cats and dog; even better than I do! She has experience volunteering at a humane society so she knows more than the average joe when it comes to kitties. I know that my animals are in the best of care with Cate, and I know she goes out of her way to make them comfortable while I'm away. While we have never had an emergency when she's taken care of my animals, I'm confident that she would act fast and keep me informed through it all.

I absolutely will defer to your instructions for feeding, walking and socializing with your pets. You know them and their needs the best. We can see if your pet is a good match for my household if you would like your pet to be cared for at my home.
Information Cate A. would like to know about your pet
Basic information will be needed like your dogs' names, what and when to feed them, what their routine is for potty breaks and walks, if they have any health or medical needs, who their vet is and who to contact in case of emergency. I'd love to also know what their favorite toys and treats are as well as places they particularly like to walk. Are they okay on a leash? Do they need certain considerations when in public (staying away from other dogs or people)? Can I spend a bit of time with them in your presence before you leave so I know they'll be comfortable with me? Are there places they're restricted from in the house? Do they have any specific fears or aggressions? I'd like to know if they have they had any episodes in the past that concerned you so that I am aware not to trigger them. Written instructions are always best. And if you're going to be away, let me know if and how often you want pictures and updates of your pup!
A typical day
I don't think there's a typical day that will work for every single dog. It all depends on what your particular pup is used to, wants and needs. If your dog wants nothing more than to be on the couch with me, that's what we'll do! Belly rubs and cuddles? You got it! If your dog has infinite energy and needs a long walk or lots of playtime and attention, we will find the best time of day to try and stay dry and enjoy a good long stroll. I love Lake Sacajawea or the dyke around Kelso high school for a long walk but sometimes a dog needs to run! My girl loves to take off like a greyhound so we use a 30 foot leash with her and let her have the full length of it if no one else is around at the dyke. Training wears a dog out almost as much as running, so it's a lot of fun to work on new tricks with them if they're into that. Most importantly to many dogs, we will eat right on time and if mom and dad are good with it, we'll have lots of treats throughout the day too! :)

I run my own online business and can work anywhere, anytime, as long as I have a decent internet connection. That makes me very flexible to be there when you need me!
