"Religion is the smile on a dog."

Pet care experience

There's really just nothing in the world like a dog smiling back at you, is there? Dogs truly are one of life's most precious gifts. My promise is that with me, your dog will always be treated as such. My two year old labradors Shelby and Willow looove making new cuddle buddies and will make your dog feel like a part of our pack in no time! I know all too well the anxiety around leaving your special needs pet under someone else's care. Before her passing at 13, our special needs dog, Loco, heightened my appreciation for the people I felt could handle her level of care in my absence. During that time, I gained experience following pretty complex medication schedules, monitoring input / output, and providing wound care. Documenting these things was second nature and proved very helpful as a safety net when administering multiple Rx's several times a day. As your pet's safety is my #1 priority, this is a habit I intend to practice with any dog taking meds in my care.

Cassie and her husband take such great care of my fur baby. I always felt at ease. She communicates very well and sends pictures to ensure he is doing okay. He gets to play with friends, snuggle on the couch/ bed, and enjoy treats. He tends to have some separation anxiety, however, they do a great job making sure he feels welcome and at ease.

Safety, trust & environment

Although our labs were just over one years old when we adopted them, I would still consider my household "puppy proof". I'm a real stickler for safety and see basically anything as a potential hazard (LOL). Therefore, very few things are accessible at their height other than those intended for them like toy boxes, water/food dishes, and beds. We have a half acre fenced in backyard for your dog to get all their zoomies out, chase squirrels, play tug of war, or just sunbathe. We can take daily walks in the neighborhood or enjoy the beautiful Fenwick-Hollowell trail just a couple lights away from the house. I have two crates available for medium-giant breeds if necessary. I ask that all boarded pets be up to date on their vaccines, and flea/tick/heartworm preventatives.

Information Cassie K. would like to know about your pet

I'd love to know a bit about your dog's normal "routine". What kind of activity do they like? Do they need an above average amount of exercise? Are there special treats or toys they are accustomed to that can help them feel more at home? Are there any behaviors I should be aware of? Aggression over toys or food? Fear of bad weather or car rides? Timid of males or strangers? None of which is uncommon!! It's just that knowing these things ahead of time can help eliminate stressors and appropriately respond to your pets needs. I need to be aware of any medical condition your pet may have, along with a detailed schedule for any medication administration needed. Knowing a bit about your pet's condition will help me to be vigilant of any physical or behavioral changes during their time with me. Let me know of any physical accommodations your pet may need (ramp for the back steps, assistance in and out of the car, onto the couch, etc). If your pet has skin sensitivities or requires a specific type of shampoo, please be sure to bring it with you (otherwise, I use an oatmeal based shampoo if needed!).

A typical day

I live in a small, low-traffic neighborhood that's great for walking, but my very favorite place to walk is the beautiful Fenwick-Hollowell trail just a quick drive up the road from my house. Before heading out for walks, I like to play in the backyard for a while to get rid of some of energy before going on leash. Shelby and Willow love to entertain new friends in the backyard, but they're equally happy to snuggle up on the couch, gaze out the window, or take a nap. For the sake of all pets' safety and to enjoy the opportunity to bond with your pet, walks will be done separately from my pups.

Availability

I'm home full time for pets who need frequent bathroom breaks or suffer from separation anxiety. My main hope is to give pet parents peace of mind while they're away from their beloved pets, particularly those with special needs. Or just those with tons of energy and need lots of playtime!!
