I typically don't write negative reviews even if I am displeased about something because it stresses me out, and I feel like everyone has a bad day. However, this is worth noting and should be documented because it's very concerning. I wrote precise instructions that were part of the Rover itinerary, demonstrated these instructions in person with a meet and greet with the sitter and her daughter, and reiterated the instructions via messaging when the photos sent seemed weird during the visit. I booked housesitting for two days. She asked if her kids could come, and I was agreeable to this, but no one stayed. My cats were overfed by 4x of the amount listed, as evidenced by the empty pet food cans in the garbage. Uneaten wet food was left out for who knows how long. On the 2nd day, when asked, she said, "That was super," except I got home around 3:45. Not sure about the first day. When I got home, there was dried-up cat vomit in other parts of the house that the sitter never entered. One cat hid the entire time, so 2 out of 3 cats continued to vomit until I returned. The vet bill was over $200 today (for one cat), and I couldn't estimate when they started to get sick because I was lied to and not accurately communicated with. Given the deflection and adolescent responses in the Rover message, I question whether I was talking to her or her teen daughter. This has gone beyond being dissatisfied into negligence.
