Parttime human, fulltime dog lover.

Pet care experience

Dogs have been a massive part of my life since I was a child. My house has always had two to four dogs, and I have always been the primary day-to-day caretaker. I watch them, I feed them, I administer their medications, I walk them--and I understand them. Neighbors have relied on me when they need to dogsit in a pinch, too. They have ever since I was a teenager.

Our high strung pup always does brilliantly with Casimir in our absence. His communication is great, and we love that we get pictures throughout his stay. We always return to a clean house & a happy, relaxed dog. I can't recommend Cas enough!

Cas was everything we could have hoped for in a house sitter for our neurotic pup. He came to our meet and greet session prepared and asked about things I would have forgotten to mention. Our dog is older and has lots of quirks, and Cas handled her beautifully. During our trip he responded to every nervous check in text I sent promptly, and sent plenty of pictures. He bonded so nicely with our dog that she searched the house for him this morning, just in case he was around for some ball throwing ! Additionally when we returned our house looked exactly as we left it. We will definitely plan to use Cas's services again the next time we go out of town.

Casimir is an absolutely lovely caretaker of all dogs from giant Danes to small Pomeranians. As a person, they're very aware of how key of a role haptic communication is with dogs. Something I have seen exercised again and again is the ability to build trust with any dog. The importance of letting the dog approach them first, affirmations, patience, unlimited kindness, and the ability to give directions are all very apparent when Casimir cares for dogs. I have seen the process first hand many times with their dogs at home, friend's dogs, and dogs belonging to strangers - Cas is your best pick for a dog who needs a run, someone to feel safe with, or someone to watch movies with on the couch. I can't recommend anyone else enough!!

Safety, trust & environment

If I ever drop in or have to spend the night, I always evaluate the pet's various needs like food, water, medication, and if they need to go outside. Then I do sweeps to ensure there are no imminent threats such as busted fences or household hazards, and then I check for any messes in the home. My top priority is always the health and safety of the pet, and secondary is ensuring the house is in as close to the same condition as when the owner left. The third priority is giving as many pets as possible--which is easy considering how much dogs like laying and sitting on me.

Information Casimir R. would like to know about your pet

I'll need to know how high a dog's energy level is, what their specific dietary and medication requirements are, as well as any other special needs or personality quirks. Other useful information to include is commands and words they respond to and instructions for specific instances that may occur (for instance, if a dog likes to crawl under beds perhaps there is a specific way you have to get them back out). Basically, the more I know about a dog and how that dog functions as an individual, the better.

A typical day

The level of activity is going to depend on the needs of the dog. For higher energy dogs, I love heading for the dog park and playing fetch, letting them run loose and meet other dogs. The other favorite is walks that vary in length but will always involve smelling all the new smells in the neighborhood. Lower energy dogs tend to love toys, so I will try to engage them in play using whatever their preferred toy is.

My workload varies week to week, but I work from home so taking care of animals is a welcome break that helps me get through the day. Nothing breaks up monotony like going for a walk with an energetic pup.
