Dogs will save humanity from itself

Pet care experience

I'm a bonded & insured professional pet sitter and dog walker with near 2 years experience sitting for various clients around the Central Coast. Duties have included I've spent the past near 2 years being responsible for feeding, walking/playing with/exercising and doing light grooming for client's dogs, cats, and even chickens, though all animals are welcome to my services. Just show me what to do and I'll do it! I grew up on an acre in rural Nipomo surrounded by animals, including dogs, cats, turtles, lizards, rabbits, & many others. Family dogs have included 2 chocolate labs, 1 labradoodle, & currently 2 Laggoti Romagnoli (Italian Water Dogs); they are my dearest friends in the world. I've had experience grooming them and I've done agility & nose work with our 2 current Lagotti. I Love taking them for walks on the beach, in the dunes, or on trails around the area & playing ball or HurriK9 with them where they get to use up their energy finding the ball/ring & bringing it back for payment of a treat. I'm 6'6", but I know to get down at the dog's level as much as I can and to let the dog come to me when its ready, and not to force interaction, reading its body language all the time for clues on what she's thinking or planning to do. Your dog sets the pace. Treats can typically help when meeting a new dog, or possibly a new toy. I've yet to meet a pet that hasn't quickly become my best bud.

Safety, trust & environment

I am bonded & insured as a pet sitter; I keep animal first aid books in my car, as well as an animal first aid kit, I always have my phone on me for internet use should an emergency occur, I have trained myself in doggie CPR & the Heimlich Maneuver using books & internet resources, and I know where the local emergency pet hospitals are located. I make sure I know which veterinarian every client uses when I sit, do drop in visits, or walk dogs for clients. I know how to break up dog fights should one occur & carry a bit stick with me in my car, though prevention is always the key to keeping animals safe. I keep dogs on leash at all times in open, public areas and keep them away from other dogs as much as possible for safety precautions. For clients pets, their instructions are my minimum boundaries; beyond that I treat my client's pets as I do my own, as family members and loved ones, who need attention, play time, exercise/mental stimulation, and at times, their space. My own two family dogs are my best friends and the closest thing I will have to children in this life, thus I do everything I can to make sure they are provided for, exercised, kept mentally stimulated, happy, and most importantly, safe. I live on an acre with a double fenced in yard, as my two are diggers, and while they are outside, I keep a close eye on them. When outside in a non-fenced in area, they are always on leashes, as I live near a busy street.

Information Casey B. would like to know about your pet

Their names, breed, gender, age, dietary routine, what commands they know, what their daily routine looks like, how they are around other dogs and people, what walking routes they are use to, games they like to play or toys they like to play with, which local veterinarian services them, medicinal regimens, etc.

A typical day

Typical days including feeding and watering for breakfast & dinner, treats in between, light grooming (brushing), and however many walks or play time sessions clients instruct for their dogs and other pets, depending on pets' age and energy levels. I have neuropathy issues in my feet as I'm recovering from a back injury, so I try to keep my walks shorter and more frequent, if possible, though I'm good for up to an hour for walks.
