Pet care experience
I grew up with dogs and cats, and think they enhance life on earth! I am a caring, considerate, adventurous, intuitive and communicative petsitter with more than 10 years of experience. I've worked with dogs and cats of many different ages, sizes and breeds over the years. I established myself as the neighborhood petsitter in middle and high school for family, and friends, and then when I moved to Maui in 2021, I made petsitting more of a full-time job. I was petsitting or dog walking for up to 4 different families/pet-owners in a month on Maui and in the last few months, I had a waitlist going for petsitting because I set myself apart as being the best (or one of)! I have taken doggies/puppies to pet training classes, to grooming appointments and to the vet, and am comfortable with animals who need extra medical/emotional attention. I am a super active hiker, jogger and yoga teacher, and think my energy tends to lend itself well to animals, who often enjoy all of these activities just as much as I do, and like to to them with me! I think what sets me apart from other sitters is my experience, my desire to keep your house clean, your pet happy and your anxiety levels low! I do that through kindness, honesty, not taking on more than I can chew, intuition, organization, respect and thoughtfulness in my petsitting work, which I take very seriously! Carrigan has been a wonderful help in caring for my beloved fur baby. She has a gentle demeanor that immediately puts my pup at ease, and she is attentive and thorough. I was very lucky to have her help, when she was here on Maui.
We were so happy with Carrigan's house and pet sitting. We have 7 special needs senior dogs and 2 senior cats. Highly recommend. Miss them!

I don't have a yard, but would take your pet outside (if they wanted to be/ were permitted) 3-5 times a day for walks, emotional stimulation, and physical exercise. I'd prefer to sit your pet (if it's overnight) at your house, so that the pet feels more secure in their space and environment, since typically animals can get very attached to their routine. Right now, my schedule is flexible, so I am also open to driving/walking to your house, taking your pet on an adventure walk, and then going back to my house or going onto my next pet appointment. I would be very diligent, and try respectfully, to only be with/tend to one pet at a time (or multiple pets at once if they are all yours). I don't think it's always that effective mixing pets together, either on a dog walk or in my own apartment.

Please let me know how your animal behaves around other animals (dogs especially) and if there is some odd behavior they do that I should know about which indicates them needing something (ex: ringing a bell on the door if they have to go to the bathroom, throwing up if they are nervous, etc.)
A typical day
With dogs, I prefer to meet them inside their house or inside their fenced lawn! Then I would love to just spend some quality time getting to know them / playing with them / walking them in the surrounding area. If it's a nice day out, I would take them somewhere to swim (in Cape Elizabeth), or take them on an awesome hike/walk to get their energy up. If they behave well with other dogs, I would take them to a dog park! Then make sure they eat when they're supposed to and get some rest if they are tired/ over stimulated. I would either take the dog back to my house to hang out and rest, or preferably, bring them back to their house to rest. We might play some games of "hide & seek" with cookies for mental stimulation, and it's always fun to go over commands/tricks with them (have some training time)!

Availability
I just moved to Portland, Maine and don't have my own pet, though my apartment is pet-friendly and set up in a great walking area in downtown Portland. Right now, my schedule allows me to teach yoga, work part-time (and remotely) as an administrator for various theaters and walk dogs/ play with cats & petsit animals! I am planning a relaxed summer, where I can prioritize all-things-pets! I got burned out from desk jobs that kept me inside all the time, get bored of the same routine everyday, so petsitting (and meeting different pets all the time) is what I'm hoping for!
