Pet care experience
I rescued my Cookie, a pittie mix, two years ago when she was found as a neglect case. She loves people and dogs so much that it results in excited reactivity - especially on leash. We have grown so much together over time and are still navigating challenges as we live in a community with lots of pets. Beyond my experience with her, I was raised with several cats and smaller dogs. I have also spent some time volunteering at shelters throughout college and more recently in my free time. I was recently laid off from my career job, so I am looking to pivot and gain as much handling experience as possible on my way to pursue dog training.

I’ve seen Carrie love and care for 2 of her own small breed dogs from the time they were puppies until they were elderly. She currently has a large breed rescue and is patiently training and building trust with this energetic baby. Carrie will 100% accurately follow your guidelines for care while making your pet feel adored.
Carrie is a very caring person who loves animals! She is very responsible and takes the animals wants/needs to heart. She’s always playful and will never treat your animals wrongly. She will always do what’s best for your pet and is very good at following directions that you may have for your pets.

As a pet owner myself, I am very picky when it comes to her care. I am the type of person who would thrive on detailed notes, if you have the time. PLEASE let me know if they prefer to tug with the purple monster, but then the squeaky duck is only for backyard play. Do they prefer a certain treat at a certain time? Does your kitty prefer no direct eye contact? I can do that too! How can I fit the routine to create a sense of normalcy while you’re busy or away? I will be the perfect person to be picky with, however, I have the confidence to handle things well if you don’t have the time for that! If I am taking your dog on a walk, I will make sure to keep my distance from other dogs and humans. It will be helpful to inform me of any specific environmental triggers your dog has as I will do my best to avoid those as well (wild animals, loud noises, etc). With a reactive dog of my own, I understand how frustrating a walk can sometimes feel with all the variables to consider. Feel free to also let me know if your dog is typically reinforced with treats on walks - we can have a conversation about what your preferences are and if you’d like me to follow suit.

**If your cat or pup is nervous around strange humans, please consider booking a longer session as I will take the time to get acquainted with them before asking them to trust me with play or a walk! Please let me know about any reactivity (to humans, other animals, leash-specific, etc) and the severity. If going on walks, how well do they block out distractions? Please also inform me of any concerns with riding In a car if we are planning on a trip to the park/greenway. Please also communicate any commands or behaviors that I can help reinforce while your pet is under my care!
A typical day
Depends on your preferences! For cats, i can simply drop in and take care of necessities or we can have playtime around your home! For dogs, my first choice would be to have playtime in your home/yard or have a walk in your neighborhood. If you communicate that there are no concerns with us going to a nearby park/greenway, then I would love to do that as well.

Availability
I currently have open availability, though I am not available for overnight care as I have a pup waiting for me at home. My preference starting out would be Sunday-Wednesday, but as I build up a consistent schedule I would considering having some availability on Saturday as well.
