We planned an 8 day vacation and our normal sitter was unavailable and we found Carrie and Alex to stay at our house to care for all of our kids (dogs and cats). From the start, the dogs took to them right away, which they don't always do. They were in good hands while we were gone. The fur kids can be high maintenance with being needy and they have meds they need daily. All the kids let them give them their meds and were doing great when we got home! :-)

Carrie was a life saver. Our original sitter cancelled on us at the last minute and Carrie took Ranger with no problem. He had the BEST time playing with all the other dogs and I know he was loved on. Ranger became ill while in her care (NO fault of anything at her house—just a fluke) and Carrie communicated with us and took great care of Ranger, maybe even spoiled him ;-). We would send Ranger to her again in a heartbeat. Very much recommend!!

Information Carrie Lynn A. would like to know about your pet

When watching a dog, it’s important to be aware of any special needs or behaviors they may have. This information helps ensure the dog’s safety and comfort. Here are some common aspects to consider: 1. Medical Needs: Check if the dog has any medical conditions or requires medication. You’ll need to administer medication as prescribed and be watchful for any signs of distress. 2. Dietary Preferences/Restrictions: Ask about their dietary preferences, allergies, or restrictions. Some dogs may have specific dietary needs or food allergies. 3. Exercise Requirements: Understand the dog’s energy level and exercise needs. Breeds vary in their activity levels, so it’s good to know if they need frequent walks, runs, or playtime. 4. Socialization: Determine how the dog interacts with other dogs and people. Some may be sociable and love meeting new friends, while others might be shy or have a history of aggression. 5. Anxiety or Fear: Note if the dog has any anxiety or fear triggers. This could be related to thunderstorms, fireworks, or certain situations. 6. Training and Commands: Learn about their training level and any specific commands they respond to. Consistency with commands helps maintain good behavior. 7. Special Toys or Comfort Items: Some dogs have favorite toys or comfort items that help them feel secure. I know that every dog is an individual, and while breed traits can provide general guidance, each dog may have its unique personality and needs. Effective communication and a willingness to accommodate special needs or behaviors can lead to a successful pet-sitting experience.

A typical day

Here are some fun activities I can do with the dogs I’m watching: 1. Dog Park Visit: Take them to a local dog park where they can socialize and play with other dogs. 2. Nature Hikes: Explore nearby nature trails or hiking paths with the dogs for a more adventurous walk. 3. River Bank Day: Consider a trip to the river where they can run in the sand and play in the water. 4. Fetch: Play a game of fetch in a spacious, safe area like a backyard or a park. 5. Training Sessions: Engage in some basic obedience training or teach them new tricks. It’s mentally stimulating for dogs. 6. Puzzle Toys: Use puzzle toys and treat dispensers to challenge their minds and keep them occupied. 7. Picnic: Bring a picnic and enjoy a meal with the dogs in a pet-friendly park. Special places for walks could include local trails, scenic viewpoints, pet-friendly cafes, or even just a leisurely stroll around a peaceful neighborhood. Always make sure the activities and places you choose are safe and appropriate for the dogs’ personalities and needs.
