Currently when I come stay at my parents house for up to 1-2 weeks at a time I will make sure my dogs food here is full and water too since she is one who eats throughout the day on her own, and we do have a dog door but I will still be sure she gets plenty of time outside each day. At least a few minutes of play time each day if not more, and plenty of love and cuddles which I would do with any dog any size! She also gets treats while I try to do some training with her but sometimes she gets small treats just because she's cute. She is also the type of dog who has a cage with a good amount of room to stretch which she will go in and take a nap on her own. I would not lock any dog in a cage unless there was an issue of some kind with aggression, maybe food was spilled, or some other mess to clean up where I needed to be sure they were safely out of the way for a few minutes (vomit or droppings including typical puppy care issues that come up in this area). I always do everything possible to keep pets happy in a healthy environment and especially do not like punishing animals, even my own dog if something they did was wrong, so they don't even get a half way smack on the nose it's if anything a light tap so they aren't hurt in any way. I thought I would add that to ensure anyone would know all about how I am around dogs or pets in general in any situation and that your pets will always be safe and in a loving environment with me.
