Pet care experience
Hi, my name is Caroline, and I'm a student at UNCW. This semester all of my classes are online due to COVID. I am home the majority of the time, so caring for dogs fits my schedule perfectly. I am up for giving walks while you are at work, or having your pet over to stay while you are away. I can also do home visits. If you will be away for more than two days, I will not do home visits for dogs but I will host them at my house (I just feel like being alone has the greatest impact on dogs). I have one dog, Joey (chihuahua) who loves when I sit dogs as much as I do! I moved into my current place in August '19, and met my cat, Dorian, who was living under the house at the time. My previous dog, Rosie, passed away two years ago at the ripe old age of 19. I think this gives me a specialized level of experience with elderly pets and their needs - but I love animals of any age! I am up for administering medications, adhering to special diets, and finessing picky eaters. I would love the opportunity to care for your dog, cat, or other pet* and show them the love they deserve while you are away! *Dorian showed no interest in my pet rats who passed away over the last few months.
Reviews
Caroline did a great job with our dog!
Caroline is Wonderful! She took such great care of my little guy, from walks to different places, to giving him a treat to chew on that he loved, to carefully thinking about all of his needs and taking great care of him. I highly recommend her! She offers pick up and drop off, which was really helpful. She sent me pictures, and videos during the stay. She really cared for my Marley. She goes above and beyond.
She took great care of my dog and sent pictures. She was very easy to work with for drop off and pick up times. We will use Caroline again!
Ella was walked by Caroline twice a day for over a week in May 2019, she made sure to keep Ella on a schedule with the walks and feedings! She also fed Ella a special raw food diet with medications daily. Ella always seems so happy in the pictures takes by Caroline! Highly recommend!

Information Caroline R. would like to know about your pet
I have a couple preferences that have developed as a result of sitting over 40 unique dogs of many different breeds and sizes at this point. Unfortunately, I do not take pit bulls/Staffordshire terriers or mixes . These are great dogs and I love them just as much as the others. However, the two pit mixes I sat both ended up seeing my chihuahua as prey. They were both really sweet dogs and their owners just didn't anticipate this behavior. These were the only two dogs that I was actually worried were going to harm my dog. One bite and a shake from a dog with such strong jaws could kill him, so I have decided that I can't take the risk again. The other restriction is dogs that are triggered by barking. My Joey is a barkoholic and this causes some dogs anxiety and has even caused a few to become aggressive in letting him know he needs to stop. I am sympathetic to the impulse, but safety for all the pets in my care is paramount. The barking is something we are constantly working on, but he is certain to have some outbursts of barking during the stay. Otherwise, I would like to know anything about your pet that YOU feel is important for me to know in order to best care for him or her.
A typical day
We live way out in the country on a dead end road. It's lovely. There's plenty of room to take walks in neighborhood that is within walking distance. I also have a yard, although it is not fenced. The county water authority owns most of the road, and there are only two houses on it. Past the houses there is an enormous soccer-sized field on one side of the road. During some parts of year, it is overgrown, but during others, it's a great private dog space. I personally prefer to use a tie-out (xxxx-long) even though no cars come past just in case a dog gets it into their head that they'd like to wander where they shouldn't. Dogs run fast. However, it's still a great space and I have long enough leads that dogs can run, play fetch, and just have fun in an open space.
