Cats + Dogs = The Best
Pet care experience
The thing that makes me happiest in the world are animals, especially dogs and cats! That's why I've chosen to spend more time with them since leaving my full-time job four years ago in favor of becoming a freelance writer. MY EXPERIENCE I have been petsitting both dogs and cats through Rover for four years, primarily doing drop-in visits and dog walking in Santa Monica, where I live. It has been a joy to get to know my human, feline, and canine neighbors. Before Rover, I regularly volunteered for a year at No-Kill Los Angeles’ pet adoption facility in West LA, where I took care of shelter dogs and cats of all sizes, breeds, and ages. In addition to getting hands-on experience, I also took classes in dog and cat behavior, learning how to read their body language and best practices for handling them. My activities with the dogs included walking, grooming, playing, and cleaning up after them, as well as sometimes just sitting quietly. My family had two dogs while I was growing up, so I have experience caring for puppies as well as seniors with health issues. While working with the cats at NKLA, who ranged in age from kittens to seniors, I gave them whatever they needed, whether it was some play time with a wand, petting, or brushing.
Reviews
Caroline was great with Edamame! She sent really nice updates and lots of pictures! I can tell our cat was played with and pleased to have someone hang out with her. Caroline was trustworthy and it was a huge relief to know someone was caring for our kitty while we were out. We will definitely use her again and are glad to know our kitty was cared for! I would highly recommend her!
Caroline is amazing! She’s always so good with our animals and gives us super thorough updates each day. We def recommend her :)
Caroline is super responsive and thoughtful. She made us feel completely at ease—from providing timely updates and photos of our cat to make us feel Would highly recommend her.
Caroline is great! She’s done drop-in visits with our puppy in the past, but this time she took care of our two cats. She was super thorough, communicative and friendly with our fur babies. She sent us great pics of them each day and the cats seemed very content when we arrived back home. We’d definitely recommend Caroline to friends and will book her again in the future :)

WHEN TAKING CARE OF YOUR ANIMAL When arriving to take care of your animal for a drop-in visit or walk, I will enter the house quickly to prevent any escapes. Once inside, I usually crouch down and position myself at an angle to them to appear non-threatening. I let the animal approach me and sniff me. Once they signal that they are comfortable by rubbing up against me or licking me, I will walk further inside. I will spend a minimum of 30 minutes with your animal and will not leave until performing all the activities we’ve discussed, whether it’s feeding them or allowing them to use the bathroom. I like to leave on a good note, making sure they will be happy and comfortable until the next time you or I see them. I will take photos and send you an update each time I come, unless you specify otherwise. MEET AND GREETS Meet and greets are a good way to prepare me to take the best care possible of your pet and to allow both of you to become comfortable with me. I usually prefer to do them, especially if you’ll be gone for more than a few days, but don’t necessarily require them. When you reach out, we can discuss whether you’d like to have one.
Information Caroline A. would like to know about your pet
I am available to take care of kitties and smaller dogs up to approximately 25 pounds. I have experience with kittens and puppies as well as seniors and love them all.
A typical day
With cats, I like to play with their ribbon wands, laser pointers, or fishing rods and cuddle up with them on the couch. With dogs, I like to play fetch, help train puppies, give nose boops (only if appreciated) and snuggle.
