Pet care experience

30+ years Professional Pet Care Experience * Skilled Veterinary Technician * References Available * I am Carol Cornwall, owner of Scooter's Bed and Biscuit, the loving, home-style, cage-free boarding alternative for special dog in the Portland metro area. I began my professional pet care career part-time in 1985 during my college years at TCU (GO, FROGS!) in Fort Worth, TX. While growing my pet care business, I also worked in both an animal shelter and veterinarian office as veterinary technician until I was able to make pet care my full-time career. In 2004, I moved to the West Coast and opened Scooter's in Northern California. After yearning for decades to live in the Great Pacific Northwest, I moved here in 2007 and Scooter's opened in Oregon, serving the Portland area ever since. Caring for dogs is the goal every day at Scooter's Bed and Biscuit. I am an expert at keeping dogs happy and stress-free while their people are away from home, and a less-stressed dog is a much healthier dog. Rather than simply making sure a dog's basic needs of food, water, and shelter are met, I go the extra distance to ensure each canine guest has a tailored stay to accommodate their needs for companionship, activity, and rest. Dogs love Scooter's location near the river and all the action that provides. There are big, interesting birds flying overhead (and sometimes resting in our trees) and squirrels leaving treasures outside to sniff and then be chased from tree to tree around the yard. Almost any dog would enjoy Scooter's Bed and Biscuit for boarding. Family dogs who are not aggressive toward other dogs, and who like to run and play with equally fun-loving canines, excel at my B&B. Also, dogs who pine for their people while home alone, and who might get into a little mischief because of their loneliness, love to spend time with me in the constructive, positive, and nurturing environment I provide. In addition to lots of play, there is also time set aside for rest and cuddling. I take the time and make every effort to create a place where all personalities will feel comfortable. Quiet dogs will enjoy spending time relaxing with a loving caregiver who spoils them with belly rubs. Active dogs will find the large fully-enclosed yard really satisfies their need to stretch their legs and receive extra attention from someone who will throw the ball over and over and over. I strive to tailor each dog's stay with me to their individual needs in order to make sure stress and anxiety are not a factor during their time away from home. I particularly enjoy caring for geriatric dogs and those who need medical care due to chronic conditions or post-surgery. I have a separate room in my home where these special ones can be cared for in a quiet environment while not being disturbed by more active guests. My Scooter was 16 years-old when she passed away and had a few special needs in her last years. I'm grateful to have had that precious time to further spoil her while preparing her special meals and treating her with holistic remedies. I feel the older and ill dogs are so thankful for the extra attention we give them. After meals are served (each guest is allowed to eat individually), all dogs have a rest period for digestion and to enjoy music or videos. In the evening before bed, everyone enjoys a final romp outside to get any last minute business taken care of before lights out. I offer each canine guest the opportunity to sleep at night as they would at home. I have individual kennels for dogs who prefer alone time or I can accommodate those who would like to sleep with the group. Soft beds (heated when necessary) comfy sofas, cushy chairs and even my personal bed are provided to make my place homey and cozy. When morning comes, we all go outside and greet the day with a few laps around the yard before breakfast, after which we have quiet time to let the tummy settle before starting another fun filled day. The large outdoor play yard and cozy indoors make Scooter's the best choice for rain-or-shine play and socializing. I offer transportation service for boarding guests Monday through Friday mornings. For your convenience, I am able to administer any oral or injectable medication to your beloved dog while staying with me and I feature 24-hour on-site emergency care. My clients feel safe entrusting their darling doggies to me knowing that I am capable of stabilizing any emergent situation that may arise before seeking emergency veterinary care. My location is 10 minutes away from the 24-hour VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists Emergency Hospital. Because I structure my boarding experience as a home environment, dogs who stay at Scooter’s are less anxious about being away from their own home. This promotes a happy, peaceful, relaxed atmosphere that clients definitely notice when they come to pick up their dog. This impression is what keeps them coming back to Scooter’s Bed and Biscuit. I have a very flexible schedule and can usually bend my days to fit yours. I do not keep regular hours, but try to be accommodating to reasonable requests for clients to drop off and pick up their dogs when it is convenient for them. I look forward to meeting you and your precious dog soon. Schedule your visit today . I LOVE them when you have to leave them!

Carol has been my dog's regular daycare/boarding provider for several years and I wouldn't trust his care to anyone else. She not only provides him a safe environment, she truly loves him as her own! Carol provides feedback if my boy seems a little off, and also gives great advice when we're dealing with any issues. I highly recommend Carol if you're looking for someone to love your pet as you do.

carol has a lovely, large fenced yard which our dog, indy, loved. she did a good job of clarifying some of my comments about indy's needs. and indy liked carol's dogs and the other guests, too. indy was happy to see us at the end of her stay, and wanted to extend her stay because it was such fun for her. it is good know that indy is being so well cared for while she visited. definitely contact carol again.

I cannot recommend Scooter's Bed and Biscuit enough! Our lab has been going weekly to doggie daycare now for over eight years and she loves it. At first it was because she needed to burn off some extra energy playing with other dogs in a controlled environment but now that she is a senior lady, she loves to go and get in a full days sleep on Carol's bed... what a treat! The pick-up and drop-off service is wonderful... more car rides = dog happiness. Thank you Carol for providing our girl her home away from home :o)

Carol has been taking care of my Sheltie dog for about 3 years. He has some minor health issues and I can trust that my dog, Laddie, will be given his medications and will be cared for. Carol loves dogs and I know Laddie will be taken care of and safe. I don't leave him with anyone else. She is very knowledgeable about dogs so I always appreciate her advice.
