Patience & Affirmation for Your Pet
Pet care experience
I grew up with multiple pets in my house, including dogs, cats, rabbits, geckos, and hamsters. With a veterinarian for a dad, I've picked up on many fundamental care practices and philosophies that recognize animals as highly cognitive beings who require the same patience and care we extend to other humans. That's why I give curious dogs plenty of time to sniff that spot that, to me, doesn't look any different from the rest. Who am I to deprive a creature of their right to explore? I apply a firm but gentle approach to behavior management, using a combination of positive reinforcement and strong, straightforward commands to calm, socialize, and heel dogs and discourage jumping, food-grabbing, and leash-tugging. As an adult, I've cared for dogs, guinea pigs, and cats in my home. I believe that socialization and exposure to novel places and experiences is an essential component of a pet's happiness and mental health, so you can count on me to prioritize walks with your dog.
Reviews
Carly was great! Very communicative and patient with my pup! Would love to book with her again.
Carly was very sweet and attentive to our boys! The house looked amazing when we got home, and so did the pups! She was extremely communicative and all-around awesome! Highly recommend for all your animal sitting needs!!!
Carly was great with my pup!! He got a lot of exercise and he seemed happy and content when I got home! You could tell Carly is very knowledgable in providing good dog care and is compassionate for animals. Wouldn’t hesitate to book in the future!!
Carly did a wonderful job and I couldn't recommend her more! Carly is super nice and detailed. As a nervous dog owner, she quickly assured me my dog would be in the best of hands just by talking with her and seeing how sweet and patient she was with my dog. I have absolutely no complaints about Carly and came back to a clean home and a happy pup! I will definitely use Carly again to sit my dog and would recommend her to anyone.

As stated previously, my approach to pet care prioritizes the animal's entire health, placing mental and emotional stimulation and nurturing as equal with physical wellness. I don't offer pet care in my home because I share it with others. As a guest in your home, my policy is to leave your place better than I found it. That being said, I do expect a basic degree of cleanliness at your home so that I can feel comfortable staying with your pet. It doesn't have to feel like an Airbnb. I just need a place where I don't have to do battle with your stuff for some space and where I would feel comfortable eating something that dropped on the floor. I'm one of those 5-second rule folks.
Information Carly M. would like to know about your pet
Upon initial booking request, I'd like to know if there are any times during the day that your pet(s) absolutely require care so that I can make triple sure that I'll be able to meet your needs. Once we've established a relationship, I'll expect you to inform me of any of your pet's quirks, anxieties, or any other characteristics that may require particular attention and awareness. For example, if your dog is large and has a tendency to attack small dogs, I'll take that information into account in order to practice proper risk management.
A typical day
If your pet is a dog, we'll roam the neighborhood, and they'll set the pace. Your dog's olfactory tools are their primary gateway of discovery, and I make sure to allow them the time they need to feel like a satisfactory explorer. If your dog gets along with almost anyone, I'll allow them to introduce themselves to whoever they'd like with permission from other dog-walkers. If, however, they have some trouble trusting others, you can set the criteria for who I might look for in a potential friend or acquaintance. If your dog loves the water, we might find a lake and play some fetch in the water. We may even head over to the dog park to catch up on the latest dog gossip. In the home, we might have a dance party or two. If your pet is a cat, I'll make a strong first impression by entertaining them with fuzzy and stringy toys, and then we'll stare into each other's eyes as their skepticism at my presence melts away. Then, I'll sit down to read a book, pretending I don't notice them watching me until they come and sit on my lap.

I just moved back from Montana and am figuring out my next move. I'm a full-time auntie to three amazing neices, but most of my schedule is free. If you request a booking with me, I'll ask to se up a time to meet up either in person or on video chat so we can make sure we're on the same page regarding what kind of care you're expecting for your animal. Please be prepared to speak with me so we can ensure a good match between me and your pet.
