Pet care experience

Hi there! My name is Carly, and I am a former dog caretaker (6yrs experience) and a current, part-time psychiatric nurse (RPN). My partner, AJ, works for the City of North Vancouver in the horticulture department, and has been a part of our dog business for the last 3 years. We are both extremely active individuals and provide tons of exercise for our pups. As of right now, my schedule varies. I try my best to work night shifts and weekends as much as possible, and will switch shifts if I am able to during the week to ensure someone is always home with the dogs (as AJ works Mon-Fri). Between our two working schedules, someone is almost always home, however, on the off chance we are both working during the day, AJ will work a half day so the pups are not left alone for too long. Due to this, we do require pups that can be left alone for 4-6hrs every now and then, although these circumstances are rare. In order to change my schedule in time, ample notice for boarding is preferred :) Our dog, Jack, is a 6 year old golden retriever who LOVES meeting new dogs and making new friends. He is always welcoming to new dogs in our home, however we do like to ensure that all dogs are happy with one another prior to accepting new clients. The dogs we look after are guaranteed to be friendly, respectful, and show no signs of aggression under any circumstances. All pups are allowed on the furniture and on our bed to sleep, and I can guarantee we will spoil them like our own. We can also accommodate any additional needs such as crates or isolated feedings- please reach out if you have any questions about this! A typical day with us includes one 30min walk in the morning, one 1-2hr walk in the afternoon, and another 30min walk in the evening (with lots of naps and cuddles in between!). We live by a large field and a network of trails, so we prefer having dogs who can go off-leash in order for them to be able to run around and play outdoors (although this is not a requirement). We also both have vehicles and take the dogs on adventures all over the Lower Mainland, and we bring them along with us pretty much wherever we go. For senior dogs and those with limitations, we are happy to accommodate their needs as well by increasing potty breaks and decreasing lengths/difficulty of walks. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out! We look forward to meeting your best friends and family members <3

Carly and her partner were such gems! They took such loving care of Ollie, I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to watch him! It was also so incredible that Ollie had a furry friend aka Jack, their beautiful golden retriever, to hang out with! Ollie had so much fun that he’s fast asleep now! Would 100% be rebooking with Carly and will recommend to anyone! 🐶🥰

Wow AJ surpassed our expectations and some! He sent regular updates, took Callie with his dog Jack on the trails AND to the beach. She hasn’t opened her eyes since she got home!! Thanks so much AJ and Carly, we’ll be back!

Carly did a great job with Lucky! She’s a little shy and Carly made an extra effort to look out for her and help her feel at home. We loved all the photos and updates and could tell she’d gotten plenty of exercise and had lots of fun when she was away. We hope to board with Carly again in the future!

Carly was so great to work with. Upon meeting her it was obvious that she loved dogs. She was so conscious and provided updates every day. I have two dogs so I'm sure that it wasn't easy walking them. I would recommend her to anyone and I'll definitely be using her services in the future. Just an over all great experience

All dogs are allowed on our furniture and in our bed to sleep. We truly love every dog like our own, and will give them so much love and attention while you are away! We provide frequent walks and potty breaks, we have tons of toys for them to play with, and we will ALWAYS purchase treats that work for your dog and any food sensitivities they have. We have a large patio which the dogs love to lounge on in the summer time, and we spend time outside as much as possible to increase stimulation and enrichment throughout the day! We also require trial runs prior to accepting new clients to ensure every dog we invite into our home is friendly, respectful, and shows no signs of aggression- this guarantees that your dog is in safe hands always <3

Information Carly L. would like to know about your pet

We'd love to know any special requirements (i.e. medications) a dog has, as well as what they’re preferences are when it comes to length/difficulty level of walks. We are very accommodating to size/breed/age of dogs, and are flexible with regards to their usual schedule at home!

A typical day

A typical day involves lots of outdoor time, whether that be relaxing in the sun or going for a hike in the mountains. As mentioned above, this means at least two 30min walks throughout the day, and one 1-2hr walk in the afternoon. Despite this, we will also make accommodations for senior dogs or those with physical limitations, as this level of exercise is not ideal for every pup! We often spend our down time/evenings snuggling on the couch with a movie on or hanging out on the patio.

Availability

Our golden retriever Jack is a big ball of energy, so we ideally take him for 3-4 walks per day. I work long hours but am often doing night shifts or weekend shifts. My partner works Mon-Fri, so at least one person is with the pups for majority of the day. Most of my days are spent hanging out with the dogs or taking them on adventures, and whenever possible I take them with me wherever I go!
