Experienced Pet Sitter & Dog Walker
Pet care experience
I've cared for hundreds of animals over the past 11+ years, including fostering, pet sitting, walking and more. I was most recently a volunteer dog walker for the MSPCA in Boston, and I was a foster and dog walker for the APA in St. Louis before that. I've owned, fostered and/or pet sat dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, exotic birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, fish and turtles. I've been working with animal shelters and rescues since I was a child, and my family and I fostered hundreds of dogs (especially puppies) over the years. When I started fostering on my own, I began taking in small animals, large adult dogs and senior dogs. I'm especially passionate about helping dogs that need a little extra attention, training and patience.
Reviews
Carly is very caring for our cat. She is gentle and took a very good care of him. I highly recommend her!
Carly did a great job taking care of my two cats!
Carly has been wonderful walking and caring for my pup. He recently had surgery so has some restrictions and Carly has made certain that he’s safe and comfortable at all times.
Carly took excellent care of my two cats! They’re both pretty shy but quickly opened up to her. She was responsive and sent me updates of them happy and playing. She listened to all of their needs (and mine!) and was super sweet and helpful. I look forward to having her watch my cats again in the future.

PET CARE NOTES My routine will depend on how you want your pets to be cared for, although I'm always down to give tips and tricks if you want them! You know your pets better than I do, so I will rely on you to set the ground rules - then I can take it from there. When interacting with your pets, I take my cues from the animals. If they're nervous or uncomfortable, I give them space to allow them time to warm up. But once we know each other, I try to make my visits fun and entertaining. I believe in positive reinforcement, especially verbal or treats, is key to healthy training - and corporal punishments for negative behavior are abuse. I believe negative behaviors need to be addressed carefully when it comes to animals, and I'm very firm but calm when it comes to correcting them. Some behaviors I worked on with my fosters include separation anxiety, chewing, mouthing, reactivity, barking, leash pulling, crate training, house training, jumping and more.
Information Carly B. would like to know about your pet
I'd love to learn about your pet's current routine to make my introduction as smooth as possible. Also, if your pet has any allergies, triggers or behavioral issues, please let me know so that I can keep them, myself and others safe. It's also important that your pet is up to date on vaccines and has tags and/or an updated microchip in case of emergencies.
A typical day
I love play time and going for walks, but I don't go to dog parks. I'm also willing to take your dog on outings with me (once your dog and I know each other well enough) if that's something you're interested in. I go hiking regularly in the spring-fall, so they're welcome to join me for a short, easy hike - my foster dogs loved it.
