I wish I could give zero stars. We hired Carla to stay the night with our cats and gave her a very detailed outline of their schedule and where to find everything she needed. We only chose her because of her experience as a vet tech as our cat receives medicine with a syringe once a day. Before the stay even begun she missed our meet and greet time and did not notify us of her absence until 2 hours after the time scheduled. When we finally met her we thought she was nice enough and could manage to do the easy job we needed done as the most difficult part is giving medication and she claims to be a certified vet tech with experience in giving pet meds. We hired her to stay for 6 days and five nights while we were at Disney world and had to fire her on the second day. We truly asked her for the bare minimum of giving our cat his meds, staying the night, and providing food and water and a clean litter box. Before we left we made sure Carla was comfortable staying the night and that she knew we had a ring camera in our living room to ensure the health and well being of our cats. We left early in the morning (3am) and requested Carla to check in before 3pm. Carla did not check in on our cats until 7pm and did not warn us that she would be that late. After we had already left to Orlando, Carla messaged saying she isn’t comfortable staying alone and wanted her romantic partner to stay the night with her. Then she proceeded to send us multiple pictures of him in bed with her cat to “ensure that he is good with animals”. When we said no because our cats have severe anxiety and are not comfortable around new people, she agreed and told us she would stay alone. Then when it came time to give our cat his medicine she just sprinkled it on his food which we specifically said not to do as he won’t eat it so he didn’t get his full dose of medicine. Then she said she was going back to her house to shower at 9pm after only being at our home for two hours. Carla said she was back at our home at 2 am but did not trigger our ring camera which happens when the only door to our apartment opens. Carla did not stay the night at our house, we had video footage of her coming in at 10:00 am. Then Carla lied to us saying that she did sleep on the couch and said our cat with severe anxiety (who did not get his meds, he takes Prozac to prevent stress related urinary problems) was not coming out because WE were stressing him out and hindering her ability to provide quality care. So to recap she did not give him his required medication and lied to us about staying the night so our cat can get comfortable around her. I cannot tell you why she lied knowing we have a camera in our living room, we definitely did not keep it a secret and pointed it out to her. Carla insisted because of her “experience as a vet tech” that we were over stepping and keeping her from providing the right care for OUR cat. SHE DID NOT EVEN GIVE HIM THE MEDS HE REQUIRES. We asked if she could check on him in a different part of the house to ensure that he is alive and well and she told us that we are not giving her the space she needed and she did not feel comfortable checking on him. Then she told us she regretted taking on the responsibility of care for our cat and acted surprised when we found someone else to take her spot. She tried to gas light us insisting she did everything well despite not giving our cat the medication he required and she insisted that she stayed the night despite the proof we have that she didn’t. When we fired her she sent us a huge spam of nasty messages that were extremely unprofessional, even though we remained calm and professional throughout the entire experience. The next person we hired was a delight and an absolute stress relief that we desperately needed. She did not make us feel crazy and like we were overstepping, in fact we did not even feel the need to check in. I promise we are not just overbearing people, we just don’t like to be lied to. She is the absolute worst person to take care of your beloved babies, I cannot recommend going with someone else enough. Zero out of five stars. DO NOT trust her with the care of your babies.
