Pet care experience
Hello! I am a 27 year old professional who has happily made a home on The Big Island. I moved here 5 years ago to earn my undergraduate degree in Linguistics from UH Hilo. After doing so, I have freed up some time to make some new furry friends. Throughout my life I have lived with and cared for dogs, cats, fish, cows, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits guinea pigs and horses. I have also volunteered countless times at animal sanctuaries on island. I'd be happy to learn about what your animals may need and have always had a natural draw towards caring for animals of all kinds.

Carissa took wonderful care of our cat Mimi for over a week this summer! We live in Hilo, and were away for over a week. Mimi needed medications daily, lots of attention and love (she doesn’t like being alone), and Carissa did an amazing job of checking in, sending photos, and caring for Mimi. We came home to a happy and healthy cat. This is the second time Carissa has cared for Mimi, and is our trusted go-to cat sitter for drop-ins. We highly recommend her pet sitting services!
Carissa was great! She sent us updates about our kitty and adorable pictures. She was very professional and personable and loved our cat well. She went above and beyond to recognize our cats mood, keep track of some health concerns, and recommend flea treatments that have worked for her pets.
Carissa was absolutely fantastic!! Our kitties loved her- even our wary jungle kitty. She made sure we had daily updates and she left the house as clean as when she arrived. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

I would like to know ahead of time how your pet does with eating, how they feel about other animals, how they react to meeting new people, how often they prefer exercise, and for dogs particularly, what their regular barking tendencies tend to be. If they have any special needs such as allergies, medications, injuries, etc., I'd love for you to fill me in so that I can provide the best care possible. Lastly, what is the silliest thing they do that makes them unique!?
A typical day
I am active myself and love to go on walks and runs. Having a furry companion makes it all the better! I am happy to walk in neighborhoods, but also would be happy to take your pet for a hike, if that feels comfortable. I am happy to play of course, and am also happy to relax and provide company for our more elderly friends. Whatever their preference, I am happy to acommodate!
