Home away from home

Pet care experience

When your pet stays with us they are family! My husband and I relocated from Seattle, Washington where we ran a very successful pet sitting business. We currently live in a house in the Longwood neighborhood of Mandarin. We share the house with Lincoln (my Italian-Chihuahua), Jazz (a boarder collie), and Ozzie (an English Golden Retriever), a couple of cats and housemates who love dogs and don't mind helping out! I have 17 plus years of experience watching pet's both at my place and in the home of the owner. I grew up with multiple pets ranging from dogs and cats and bunnies to birds and hamsters and I worked in the veterinary field for 6 years(2 of those in emergency care). I am well educated in pet care and have experience administering medications and injections with no problems. Lincoln joined the family in the spring on 2014 and really loves having friends come to play with him! You can be sure that your pet will get the best care and tons of love while you are away! About this sitter: I am an animal lover who has 1 dog of her own. But we live with two others! Why I love dog sitting I LOVE dogs! I love that petsitting allows me to "try out" different breeds and get to know the different personalities that each dog has. I grew up with quite a lot of animals and having them around is second nature to me. My mom used to rescue animals from the shelter who were on the waiting list to be put down and at one time we owned 12 dogs and 14 cats. We lived in a farmhouse with land...so there was plenty of room. My first dog on my own was Hannah, who passed this last summer. I adopted Lincoln in the spring of 2014 and he has been a great addition to my family. He loves other dogs and gets along well with pretty much everyone. Along with owning my own dogs I have been pet sitting for others, both friends and family for the past 17 years and I worked in the Vet industry for 6 plus years. I enjoy the company of animals and treat them with love. Lincoln is my family. Meet my pets Lincoln, an Italian Greyhound-Chihuahua mix, Jazz a boarder collie who is skittish around new humans but loves other dogs and Ozzie, an English Golden! There are two indoor/outdoor cats who get along with dogs but go ninja when we have doggy visitors. About my yard The yard is very big and fenced with an additional fenced in potty area with doggy doors for easy use, but I have no issues taking your pet on walks around our minimal traffic neighborhood!

Carina was wonderful to deal with. She was responsive and seemed to really care about our dog. Her setup is great in the backyard with her dog run and pool to play. We will definitely use her again.

Carina and her husband really knows how to make doggies happy. They have an designated screened in area only for pets to play and do their own business. They have toys in there too. They also have doggie doors for them to enjoy themselves as freely in and out. Thank you both for taking care of Bruiser! Thank you for the pictures you have been sending!

Brandi's home away from home is with Carina. We just completed our 3rd visit and Brandi walked right in and made herself at home on her couch! That spoke volumes as Brandi is a rescue that is slow to bond (normally) with others other than us!

We have a fenced yard with lots of room to run and play as well as areas of the house that are very pet friendly. We're pretty lax about pets on furniture and have lots of comfy dog beds and blankets. We make sure to feed all animals separately to avoid any altercations.

Information Carina W. would like to know about your pet

I love all dog breeds and don't discriminate. However, I do not accept puppies who are not fully potty trained or dogs who are not fixed. Unfortunately I don't have the time to potty train and unfixed pets seems to create problems. I also am unable to take in pups who tend to bark or cry a lot if left alone. Lincoln loves to play, but in his older age, he tends to keep to himself. Jazz and Ozzie are full of energy and will want to play until they drop. I do take in 3 sometimes 4 pets at a time, so your pet should at least tolerate other dogs if not love them. I am home most of the day and having multiple pets stay with us has worked great, is a lot of fun, and I have never had a problem nor have the dogs. They always seem to work things out. I have experience working with high anxiety, older and shy pets and have special places where pups can take a break or be away from the crowd if they need it. I also have no problem giving meds and preparing special diets during their stay.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks I live in a house in the Mandarin neighborhood of Longwood. I have a small fully fenced potty pen with doggy doors with a very large fenced yard. Well do lots of outside play with water breaks and the neighborhood is perfect for walking dogs with minimal traffic. In the summertime it can get hot so I have a small doggy pool that I fill with water that the dogs can dip their toes in (Sometimes their whole bodies). Your dog's sleeping arrangement Floor, Bed or couch, where ever they prefer. Bring a comfy bed for them to rest on since we have tile and wood floors! If you prefer your pet to not get on the furniture just let us know and we will keep to those rules. Also, we only kennel if you kennel. We have the space so if you want to bring it feel free. Time I'll spend with your dog I'm home with your pet about 80% of the time. Well take walks, play in the yard and cuddle on the couch.
