Fear-Free Environment at Home
Pet care experience
I've been an animal person my whole life. Dogs mainly, but most any creature has peaked my interested at some point, from the furry to the scaled. I have personal experience with dogs and cats, being solely responsible for my own for around 20 years. I have worked in pet stores, responsible for pet care for reptiles and rodents, volunteered with animal rescues, and fostered hard-to-adopt dogs. I previously managed a dog park bar in Austin, TX, and trained new staff on dog body language and behavior, as well as minimally intrusive redirection methods when necessary. I have worked with shy, fearful dogs and other reactive dogs. No force or fear-based management methods are used in my home, and dogs can go at their own pace when it comes to interacting with me as well as my other animals. I have some clients who always stay separate from my dogs and we do rotations throughout the day. I love animals of all shapes and sizes and would love to help keep your pets loved and spoiled while you're away!
Reviews
Cara was wonderful working with our schedule. She gave updates and pictures of our Buddy's day. Cara was quick to respond to communications. Buddy came home happy boy. I will definitely use Cara again. Very happy customer.
Cara was so great with my dog Crash. He can be very anxious and sometimes has difficulty with other dogs, but she made him feel so welcome and he did great with her and her other dogs. She sent me daily pics and updates. We will definitely use Cara again!
Cara was great! She eased into meeting my dog and also introducing my dog to others. She was kind and gentle and very easy to work with. I’m so glad to have found a new sitter!
Cara was such a great sitter for our two dogs, Mason and Lulu. We appreciated her pictures and communication while we were gone. Our pups came back happy and tired. We hope to have Cara sit for our dogs again!

I own my home, with a fenced in front yard just ~20 minutes outside of Asheville. I also have 3 dogs of my own, all between 30-50lbs, and 2 dog-savvy cats. I keep a space set up for guest dogs to have any needed separation from both the resident dogs and cats, complete with a crate if needed. For pets that are prone to escaping, I use a 30' biothane long line tied to my porch for fully supervised bathroom breaks in the yard that still gives them a sense of autonomy.

Information Cara T. would like to know about your pet
Let me know any experience your pet has with strangers, cats, wildlife, etc. Are they prone to trying to hop a fence? Are they used to daily walks?
A typical day
I have a toy bin full of stuffed toys, Benebones, firehose toys, and more. For the busybody, I have slow feeders, kibble dispensing toys, and for an extra fee can provide beef cheek rolls for chewers.

I work from home Monday - Friday, and generally spend weekends working on renovating my house. If I do go out, I am generally not ever gone more than ~6ish hours. Dogs will not be left unsupervised together at any point for safety, and guest dogs will be placed in the separate room when alone. I do have a large crate if necessary. We do bathroom breaks and breakfast first thing in the morning, other bathroom breaks as needed through out the day, and dinner in the evening, and one last bathroom break before bed.
