The attention your dog deserves

Pet care experience

I know every dog is different, and am happy (even prefer) to get special requests. Do you have a special way you give your dog treats, get them ready for bed, or play catch with them in the morning? Just let me know! One of my first jobs as a teenager was working for a pet sitting business. I've had pets my whole life, including dogs, cats, fish, a rabbit, and one snake. I've moved around with my husband's Army career, and taken care of many soldier's dogs over the years, both in my home and theirs. I cherished those dogs because they were the world to their soldiers, and I promise to take just as much care with your pets, because I know they mean the world to you.

Cara came through for us in a time of need! She was so awesome and even willing to come over beforehand to meet our pup which really helped. It was apparent immediately she loved our pup as if she were her own and she is a great dog person! She sent a picture during the dog visit so we knew everything was going good and I could tell our pup was very comfortable and happy with her. Couldn't recommend enough!

Skills

15 years of experience
Oral medication administration
Senior dog experience

Safety, trust & environment

I have years of experience working in the homes of my clients. I believe that keeping disruption of a pet's routine minimal helps keep them happy, so I try to stick to your normal schedule while you're gone. Is your pet a night owl or a morning lark? I'll match them and keep their routine running smoothly.

Home

Lives in an apartment
Has an unfenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 1 dog
No children present
Dogs not allowed on bed
Dogs not allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 0-2 hours

Information Cara S. would like to know about your pet

I want to know what motivates your dog (food, toys, praise, etc), and what their normal routine with you is. My goal is to stay close to your routine to keep them comfortable, with few bonuses to make up for the fact that I'm new to them. Maybe that means a couple extra treats, maybe it means having more patience for sniffing every bush along the way than mom or dad usually has, or maybe it means helping them find a stick to carry with them. What makes your dog happiest on a walk?

A typical day

I like to take a different walk every day. Mental stimulation is as important for dogs as physical stimulation is, so walking a slightly different route and letting them sniff the novel scents along the way keeps the walks more interesting and more tiring for your dog.

Availability

I'm a university student, so I'm available daily except when I'm in a class. I usually have breaks in between my classes, so I'm also usually available within an hour of your preferred time as long as you're within a reasonable travel distance. I'm much more flexible on distance for pet sitting than for dog walking for this reason.
