Licensed Veterinary Technician

Pet care experience

Having grown up with a dog, rodents, even fish, I can’t imagine a fulfilling life without being around animals! I am usually the go to person if and friends or family need someone they trust to take care of their pets. I have been a licensed veterinary technician with domestic pets for 2 years and with wildlife for 5 years. I also have previous experience working at a doggy daycare with dogs of all sizes and both nervous and excited temperaments. I especially have a soft spot for the elder pups that come with their unique quirks and love to spoil them with their favorite item or activity :) I also have experiences with other species like birds, reptiles, and pocket pets if this is an additional need for pet care.

This was our first pet sitting experience, and Cara went above and beyond our expectations! She was very attentive at taking care of our senior pups while we were away, and based on the daily communication/reports and photos/videos, the dogs were clearly comfortable and happy around her!

Cara is great! She took excellent care of our cat while we were on vacation for a week. She was friendly, reliable, and professional. She carefully followed our instructions and sent lots of photos which showed she spent quality time with our cat in our absence :)

My dog is a pitbull boxer mix and not good with strangers or other dogs but Cara was the perfect for the one week while I was away. I was frequently updated with great notes, pics and videos. Highly recommended.

Safety, trust & environment

Working professionally and hands on with animals as a full time job for the last 8+ consecutive years. I am accustomed to observing animals and any abnormalities I believe are occurring. Following instructions and attention to detail are important to me. I will keep your pets, keys, codes, and house items safe and secure. I treat your pets and property the way I would want my own to be treated. Open and honest communication between pet owners and myself is very important! If I do not think we are the best match I will let you know, and vice versa I hope!

Information Cara M. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know basics like what you expect from a visit/walk, your pets favorite activities, food intake or allergies, any quirks your pet has or typical walking behavior; are they dog friendly? Leash reactive? Like to go after squirrels on walks? Other helpful information includes energy level, tendency to pull in walks, health conditions, any aggressive tendencies towards other pets, people, children. Any details help me prepare and make the experience best for both of us :)

A typical day

Enrichment and mental stimulation are important for your pet to have a happy life; I like to make this a key aspect of care. Whether your pet loves to go for walks around town or in the woods, play fetch or just receive belly rubs, I will try to make that happen while maintaining a safe and positive reinforcing atmosphere. I enjoy talking dogs for walks around parks or wooded areas such as Hopkins Pond (I also love exploring the pine barrens; potential to take your dog for a hike in place of their doggy daycare exercise for example).

I am pretty flexible in schedule as I am currently taking time away from my full time job to work on renovating an old camper! I figure helping others keep their pets happy and safe in the interim will help fund my project while helping others at the same time. Just ask and see if I am available for that time :)
