Pet care experience
I have owned all types of animals—from amphibians (wood turtles and African water frogs), to cats to large breed dogs. I have 25+ years in cat caregiving and owning; and 10+ years experience with dog/owning and/or caregiving. I have served many families in San Francisco and the United States. I love animals and their individual personalities. I am a postdoctoral fellow at UCSF with a law degree and a masters in public administration, and am looking to meet new animal friends. I am highly flexible and I can make your animal feel most at home while you are out, which can be an unsettling experience for them. My goal is that you return to a relaxed pet. I don’t mind administering medicine, following particular rules, or idiosyncratic animal personalities. I do so miss having pets in my house, so I would love to meet your furry friends. Tips appreciated, but not required.

Candice was AMAZING with our dog Dez. We left for 2.5 weeks (longest we’ve left our dog) and so we were kind of nervous. Candice sent the best updates and pictures everyday. Felt like Dez was in good hands and the whole time we didn’t feel unsure about his care. He even had some bad digestive issues and she gave us updates a long the way that really eased everything. The best!
Candice was a great house and dog sitter. She clearly enjoyed spending time with our pup and sent lots of cute updates. We have a large, young dog and she took care to follow our instructions, help with whatever was needed, and make sure he got everything he needed. She left our house clean and well cared-for. We'll be happy to work with her again!
Candice was so great with our puppy Copper, and super communicative with us which we really appreciated. She was very thoughtful with our instructions and Copper had a great weekend with her. We'd absolutely hire her again.

I would like to know the animal’s age, breed, approximate size, energy level, walking needs, potty needs, whether there special medical needs or directions, sleeping schedule, regular walking route, prohibited activities or foods, emergency contact and preferred regular veterinarian clinic and emergency veterinary clinic information.
A typical day
We can go on walks to Golden Gate Park, Anza Vista, Embarcadero, Precita Park, Burma Vista, or wherever the owner specifies. I know temperament and physical ability will play into this, so I am happy to follow the owner’s guidance as to where/when. We will also engage in as much play as the animals are willing to; food puzzles (if owner so specifies); cuddle sessions; movie night (for the furry tv-enthusiasts). I’m happy to sleep with the animal if that is what the owner prefers.
