Hi! My name is Candace and my husband's name is Mike. We have two little ones, our son Harry who is 2 years old and our daughter Charlie who is 1 yr old. We also have a Goldendoodle pup named Penny who is sweet as can be! She is 10 years old and LOVES meeting and playing with pups of all ages, sizes, and breeds. She is sure to be a great companion to your pet while you are away! We have been caring for our friend's and families' pets regularly for several years. We would love to have the opportunity to provide a home-away-from-home for your fur baby and/or help with one of our other services such as: pick up/drop off, walks around the neighborhood, etc. Whatever you are looking for, you can take comfort in knowing that your pup is safe, cared for, and enjoying a fun filled day of walks, treats (if allowed), plentiful toys, and a loving home! We look forward to the opportunity of taking care of your pet and know that they will have a fun-filled and pampered stay at The Barkley Retreat!

Our pup had a great time with Candace and her family. I always worry when we leave him because he is a senior dog and can have difficulty adjusting. Candace was kind and communicated well with us. Our pup had fun and came back to us relaxed. We will utilize Candace when we need pet care again.
The dogs are happy and back to normal. This is the 3rd stay. Everything went well for each stay.

Our home (3,200 sq ft) offers spacious rooms and spaces to play in. We have dog beds, extra leashes, grain-free treats, and many dog toys! When we are away, we will close doors to the bedrooms, but the rest of the house will be full reign for the doggies! We have a nice open backyard, however since it isn't fenced in, we would not have the pups play unsupervised or without a long leash. Our neighborhood also has gorgeous trails, a lake, and walking paths to take your pet out on long scenic walks! For night time sleeping, your pup is welcome to sleep in any room/bed of the house. Some additional notes: We have experience with basic training, leash pullers, dietary demands, post-surgery recovery, and oral medication administration.

Our preference are lower energy breed dogs since we have two little ones at home, but we are open to watching higher energy dogs if they are well behaved!
A typical day
We love to go for walks around Lake Lynn and play fetch in the backyard! We are lucky to live so close to the lake and hiking trails!

My husband and I both work from home M-Fri full time but have flexible work schedules. With this schedule, we can ensure that your pup is never unattended longer than 1 hour at a time!
