I've always been an animal person, having been raised with cats. We're on the second set of 3 now, with my baby, Bubu, being the oldest at 13 years old. He joined the family at 3.5 months old, so I've been through a lot with him. Thankfully he's never gotten seriously ill, but I've had the wonderful experience of putting eye ointment on the 2 times he contracted pink eye. I also have the fun tasks of trimming his nails and bathing him with waterless shampoo (my cover photo is with him post-bath). As for dogs, I've had very few opportunities to care for them, so now I'm actively hunting for chances to get close and personal with some. My boyfriend is very adamant about adopting a dog, so I would like to get my feet wet before just diving in. Besides my experience with cats, I currently work with horses. I've been told that they are fairly similar in mindset, so am confident my skills will be easily transferable. I do best with shy animals, working slowly to build trust and understanding. It's really an amazing feeling when you can finally walk up to a horse that used to do anything to avoid you (including running from one end of the pasture to the other, repeatedly). High energy dogs shouldn't be an issue either. I have the stamina to walk 10 miles a day at work, so would be happy to go on long walks, runs, or even hikes.
