Paws-itive and Purr-fect Pet Care!

Pet care experience

I have been walking and sitting dogs, cats, and everything in between since I was 9 years old. I have many repeat pet clients that I have watched for the past several years and in 2021 I brought my experience and care to the pets of Rover. I have experience, including recently, caring for pets with individual needs including special diets, medication (pill, liquid, subcutaneous, and IV), mobility limitations, and geriatric care. I also have experience working with behavioral issues such as food aggression, leash aggression, general anxiety, and unpredictable anger. I also have experience caring for pets who are young and need extra play time and attention to get all their energy out. I also have experience caring for non-traditional pets such as bunnies, tortoises, fish, lizards, chickens, and exotic birds. I am an avid hiker and runner and generally would love to bring your pup on an adventure if they are up for it! I always approach every pet at their individual needs and am happy to take on any special needs they may have. For my cat lovers, please read my reviews (I watch a lot of cats!)! I have a depth of cat sitting/check-in experience and love kitties. I have a lot of experience with all levels of sociality and temperaments in cats and will meet them where they are at. I also have a lot of experience in providing cats with medicine (even if they are not always excited about it). My partner, Karen V., is also on Rover and we often team up for house sitting and boarding. If you are interested in having the two of us care for your pets let me know! We love to work together and it allows us to spend even more time with your pet (at no extra cost!). If it is your first time booking on Rover let me know and I can hook you up w/ a $20 off code!

Always a delight to have Calen check in on my pet when I'm away! He is responsible, communicative, and takes the best pictures.

Safety, trust & environment

I am happy to provide housesitting, walks, drop-ins or other services you may need. I also recently added boarding (1-2 dogs from the same household) to my services, however, I only accept boarding clients that I have been able to walk/check in/day sit several times prior. I do have a dog (Murphy) adopted in August of 2022. He is great with other dogs, though a bit timid of strangers. If house sitting I am happy to bring him along or leave him behind with my partner (schedule willing). Murphy has a lot of experience with other pups at our house for boarding and house sitting and is always respectful of rules (furniture, potty areas, etc) and is crated when we leave. If you are interested in house sitting or boarding we can discuss the intricacies before booking. As far as COVID-19 safety goes, I have been fully vaccinated and am happy to wear a mask during home visits or meet and greets. I will be sure to provide you with photos during my visit with your pet. Additionally, I am happy to discuss any individual needs you and your pet may have such as text updates, crating, medications, collaring/muzzling, or anything else. When doing home stays I try to maximize my time at home with your pet and often only leave for short periods.

Information Calen S. would like to know about your pet

Every pet is unique. Just like humans they have their own needs, wants, and preferences. I will make sure to accommodate to what your pet wants. Let me know their favorite activities, any special routines or commands they need to follow, and their tolerance for people and other dogs. In almost all cases I would like to arrange a meet and greet prior to the stay so we can go over details. Depending on the visit I am doing I may also ask for an emergency contact just so we have our bases covered.

A typical day

I am here to make sure your pet has a great time. If they are more of a belly scratches and snacks type then we will make sure to have a mellow time together. I am also available for high energy activities including long walks, runs, hikes, and intense tug-o-war sessions. I am happy to take your dogs around town including to grooming or vet appointments, as well as to local favorites like Tanner Park or the foothills. I understand all pets have various tolerances for strangers and other dogs (if out and about) so we can adjust activities accordingly to make sure your pet in in an environment it is most comfortable in.

I work from home which enables me to provide around the clock care for the pets I watch. My work is flexible so I am often able to take pets out on walks or do check-ins morning, mid-day, or evenings depending on their needs. I do travel for work in the fall and winter but will keep my Rover calendar updated with dates. Additionally, always feel free to reach out, if I am not available I can check if my partner (also on Rover) is interested.
