Calandra has 5+ years of experience working directly with dogs! Her passion for improving how we interact with our canine companions has been a lifelong endeavor. Her journey started with volunteering at local animal shelters throughout her high school and college education. Calandra got involved with dog rescue in 2013 and has since worked to promote positive training methods and responsible dog ownership online. She also personally fostered two dogs who she saved directly from the NYC ACC euthanasia list. During their time together Calandra worked rigorously on training to set them up for future success and found them forever homes! Calandra spent three years working within the dog industry in doggie daycare and boarding facilities before her human son was born, which led to her enthusiasm for entrepreneurship as it allowed her to be a work-at-home-mom for nearly two years. Calandra always knew she would circle back to her passion for working with dogs - in 2018 she observed a huge gap in the dog training world. After navigating motherhood with a human and two large breed dogs herself, Calandra fully understood how challenging it can be to keep harmony between children and family pets. Confident Canine Coaching (Calandra's dog training business) was a small idea that snowballed into a rapid pursuit. Calandra combines her lifelong experience caring for dogs with her continuing education on canine behavior, positive training and the overall wellbeing of our beloved pets to bring you exceptional care. Calandra lives in Maine with her high school sweetheart, their two-year-old son and two bully breeds (who now have grey muzzles). She loves to spend her “free” time on learning dog psychology, graphic design projects and binge-worthy TV series.
