Pet care experience
Pets have always been an important and cherished part of my life. I grew up in an old farm house surrounded by pets I loved and helped care for. This love has been part of my professional career since 2011 when I began working in the emergency room of a veterinary hospital near Indy. After graduating from an accredited college, I passed national boards to became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2014. I have 10 years of experience working in emergency medicine, 1 as a kennel assistant, 2 as a Veterinary Assistant, and 7 as a RVT. I began working part time in a general practice in 2019, and transitioned to a full time position here in Fort Wayne in 2020. Because of this experience I feel comfortable and confident handling any pets with special physical or medical needs, and will do so with the loving kindness, patience and care they all deserve. Young or old, healthy or unwell, friendly or somewhat aggressive, I would be happy to care for your pet while you are unable to.

I will do everything I can to take care of your pet in the same way you do when you are home. If your pet has medications, specific activities, special needs, or routines they enjoy, please let me know as I strive to keep their schedule as close to normal as possible for their comfort. I am happy to clean up after your pet in any way that you normally do, including poop scooping and litter box care. If I am caring for your pet for an extended amount of time and it would be helpful for me to do little things like set out your trash cans / bring them back in, collect mail for you, or bring in packages while I am at your home, I would be happy to help. I often try to send pictures or small videos of your pets so you can see them and know they are doing well. I am happy to talk via phone call but am sometimes more readily available via text message depending on day of week and time of day. I do not often look at my phone while I am working at the veterinary clinic, and almost never answer phone calls as my focus is on my patients. If you try to call me, especially during normal business hours, and I do not answer, please leave a voicemail or send me a text message. I will get back to you as soon as I am able. If I am caring for your pet during a weekday, I will be happy to let you know what my work hours are so you are well informed of my availability.

I will be happy to watch any pet, big, small, old, energetic or grumpy! If your pet does have any aggressive or anxious behaviors don’t hesitate to let me know! Even the best pets get scared sometimes! I am usually comfortable working with pets who have behavioral issues, but require full honesty up front about their likes, dislikes and triggers for the safety of myself and your pet. I promise never to judge any pet owner or pet for any anxious or aggressive behaviors. The more honest you are with me about any issues or concerns you may have about your pet, the better I can care for and keep them comfortable!
A typical day
I like to keep your pet’s routine as similar to what they are used to as possible. Being away from their parents can often be a stressful time for pets, and I always do my best to keep their activities and routines as similar to what they are used to as I am able. If your pet has something special they are used to or enjoy, even if it may seem silly, please let me know!

Availability
I am available most Saturdays and Sundays, and occasionally some Holidays. Throughout the work week, I am sometimes available for overnight care and often available for drop by visits in the early morning, a visit between the hours of 12-3, and late evening.
