Quality Care from LVT

Pet care experience

I can honestly say that since the day I was born, I have not been without a pet. Growing up around animals was not only a privilege but became something I cherished. Since I was young, I helped care for a wide variety of family pets as well as those of neighbors' and friends' from time to time. My love for animals and my passion for their well-being eventually found me in the world of veterinary medicine in 2009. I became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2012, graduating at the top of my class. Because of my experience and education, I have much knowledge and many special skills when it comes to taking care of your loved ones. I am able to take care of youngsters to seniors, pets with special needs and medical conditions as well as those needing medications/treatments. I am also able to perform some grooming tasks such as bathing, expressing anal glands, cleaning ears and giving toe nail trims. I have experience with a wide variety of pets- from dogs and cats to back yard chickens and pocket pets and even farm animals. I know when I have to leave my pets for any stretch of time, it is of the utmost importance for me to have someone I have faith in and trust to spend time with and take care of them in my absence; I would love to be that person for you and your sweet pets. Our pets do so much for us, I can only hope to return the favor.

I originally met Caitlin through a mutual job at a veterinary clinic. She became a licensed veterinary technician in the time we worked together, and was one of the most competent and caring vet techs I have ever had the privilege of knowing and working with. Knowing that you have someone who has the kind of knowledge and experience that Caitlin has caring for your pets gives you comfort and peace of mind knowing they are well looked after. My pug simply loves her to death and is so excited every time she sees her. She runs around like a wild thing and cries when she leaves. I’m not even kidding. Caitlin loves animals and they love her. She has a special way with them. It’s what makes her such a great vet tech, and what makes her so wonderful at caring for our pets. They’re like our children, and I want to know someone is treating my little squish-faced minion like she would her own.

Caitlin Eschenroeder possesses a rare combination of compassion and sensitivity. She is highly educated and has experience in the field of veterinary medicine. She received her bachelor's degree from JMU and her veterinary technician certificate from Piedmont Community College. She has worked in several veterinary practices in this area. She is motivated to apply her knowledge and love of animals as a pet sitter. She is trustworthy, competent, and capable of delivering medications for pets on a regimen while you are away. I am retired but have practiced as an oral surgeon in Richmond for over thirty years. I am familiar with what it takes to be a good employee in the service industry. My daughter Caitlin has everything needed to provide you with the best pet care possible. I recommend her to you without hesitation.

Speaking as Caitlin's parent, I describe Caitlin as a pet whisperer. She has lived with pets since the day she was born and has had personal responsibility for her own pets since she received her first kitten at age 4. Since then goldfish, dwarf hamsters, a ferret, a number of cats, and three family dogs have thrived under her care. Recently, three of our aging pets (two cats and a dog) have had serious illnesses. Because of Caitlin's knowledge as a vet tech and her dedicated care, they have lived longer than if they had not been under her watchful eyes. We are very fortunate to have our own personal pet caregiver in our family when needed. I believe that any family pet that is under Caitlin's care will feel loved and that your family will feel equally fortunate to have Caitlin as the one caring for your pets.

I have a boisterous 10 year old hound mix who loves to have friends over =) I also have two cats who tend to make themselves scarce when other pups come to play! I do not have a fenced in yard, but am able to get the pups out frequently for nice long walks (or jogs if your pup likes to run!) I try to stick to your pet's schedule- walks, feeding, medication, etc, as closely as possible so as to reduce any potential anxiety from being separated from their people. Feel free to bring your pet's own blankets/beds/bowls, etc - otherwise, we have all that stuff here too! Your pet will become a part of the family from their stay onward!

Information Caitlin E. would like to know about your pet

I do have two cats and although they usually hide away when we have canine visitors, I would like to make sure your pup is feline friendly=) And of course, please let me know if any special needs that may need to be accounted for - I'm sure we can make just about anything work!

A typical day

We will go on lots of neighborhood walks during the day, lounge in the grass in the front yard and/or the back porch. If you are comfortable with me taking your pet on outings, we love going to parks or hikes by the river. If your pet is more comfortable indoors, we can spend more time playing and relaxing inside=)
