Hi, Cville friends! *My photos are not yet up-to-date. Ha! My name is Cain and I recently moved back to Charlottesville after taking on a new role in the nonprofit/advocacy space. I currently regularly dogsit for two friends here. The pups are a 2-year-old standard poodle (Cooper) and a 2-year-old rottweiler mix (Sadie), who is a rescue. Cooper isn't always enthusiastic about eating and has some other poodle personality traits, so I'm accustomed to navigating that. But they're both a HUGE delight to be around. I took care of my dog and best bud, Sam, a wire-haired fox terrier, for 16 years before he passed peacefully from old age. 💔 I was the primary caretaker for all of Sam's veterinary and grooming needs. I took him for walks regularly and administered his medications when he was in his geriatric years. I also grew up with and have an affinity for cats. Just a bit about my philosophy toward animals: I have always been incredibly passionate about humanity's responsibility to be good stewards to our planet and all life — both wildlife and domesticated animals. Our species has contributed significantly to climate change, disrupting fragile ecosystems and polluting the environment. Animals are innocent bystanders to a problem they didn't cause or contribute to. We may feel powerless as individuals, but we can make a difference by giving the animals in our lives the best quality of life possible. I'm eager to return to Rover and share my love for animals in the Charlottesville community. As a former EMT, I am trained in CPR for dogs, as well as what to do if they are choking, and I am good in emergency situations as a result of my emergency medicine background.
