When caring for dogs in a client's home, I do my best to be as friendly and inviting as possible. I also try to greet them at their level and gain their trust and comfort before doing anything else, whether this is sitting down and waiting for the pet to warm up or playing with the pet. I'm always happy to give treats but will also consult the client's before doing so. I love playing with pets and making sure they are getting enjoyment from the care I am providing. Dependent on the dog, I am able to take them for walks around the client's neighborhood. Generally I stay away from dog parks because I don't know how the dog I am caring for will react or how other dogs will react. My biggest thing too is understanding what the client expects and wants and making sure I do everything I can do meet those needs when caring for their pets.
