A Walk A Day Keeps The Vet Away

Pet care experience

I have 10 years experience of personally training and walking my own dogs and I have 2 years experience whelping puppies. I have taken my dogs to training classes in the past and have retained enough information to know how to positively react to possibly stressful situations on leash and in the home. All my dogs are loose leash walkers after some time and effort and 2 are off leash trained. However, they are huskies so I am experienced with strong pullers and have a waist leash for just the occasion. I can walk slow or fast paced and for short or long distances. I carry poop bags, water and a travel bowl for the dog, and treats with owners’ permission. While I am not formally dog CPR certified, I do have my regular certification and I shadowed a vet office for 1 year and I learned how to do pet CPR there should it be needed.

Between being responsible, a good communicator, offering fair pricing and all the great photos Brooke gets my seal of approval! She even worked on tricks with my puppy Snoopy and fed the fish so thumbs up.

Brooke is so good with dogs! My dog absolutely loves Brooke. He gets so excited every time he sees her. She is very knowledgeable about dogs and training them as well. There are very few people I trust when it comes to my dog and Brooke is at the top of the list.

Information Brooke W. would like to know about your pet

A typical day

When I get home from work (usually around 7:30am), I let my dogs out for a potty break. My dogs are then geared for a 1.5 mile walk around my neighborhood but may go shorter or longer depending on the temperature outside. Safety is a top priority. Up to 2 dogs are walked at a time. Breakfast is typically served after the walk concludes. After breakfast (typically between 9-9:30am depending on length of walk) there will be an opportunity to play outside with tons of toys to choose from and with other dogs. My dogs do not have any resource guarding issues and are very friendly with each other and other dogs. Then I set aside 15-20 minutes of individual time with each dog for some light training. Finally, I relax with them for about an hour before I let them out a final time and get ready for bed between 12-2pm. My husband gets home between 5-6pm and let’s the dogs out, plays with them, and feeds them dinner around 7pm. I wake up around 8pm to let them out again and leave for work at 9:30pm. On weekends, I will either repeat this routine (except I will be awake the whole day) or if it is nice enough, I will take the dogs to the Indiana Dunes and hike the 3 mile trail (and swim in the summer months) or on a longer leisurely walk on the local bike trail.
