Pack Leader!

Pet care experience

I’ve been a dog person my whole life like my mom and her father (who I also share a lot in common with) but couldn’t have one as a pet due to allergies. At about five years old, my eyes started to itch & swell up whenever I was around most dogs that shed. I didn’t care though, I still felt it was worth it and would end up playing with every dog I could until I had puffy eyes and rashes all up my arms and neck. Since I got my allergies from my father, he and I both were very allergic to most animals from that point on and we never any pets around the house growing up. Even though everybody (except my father 🤣) would have loved it, myself included, it was tough that most of my other family had dogs but I couldn’t have any of my own. I always knew that I would get a dog when I moved out, and after a few years of taking a special allergy medicine, I finally have major relief to many of my symptoms, especially dogs! When I still lived with my parents, I ran into my neighbor walking his two Greyhounds, did some research, and fell in love with the breed. When I moved into my apartment, he helped me adopt a retired racer, my own good boy Chet! AKA Cheddar Cheese, Cheezy, Cheese Ball, Chester Fancypaw, and of course his Track name, Od Heavyhitta! Chet has a couple of Great Dane cousins belonging to my sister and her boyfriend Tyler, one 5 months (Banks) and one almost 3 years (Bentley). Bentley is a big friendly goofball with a giant heart and Banks is a little monster that loves to play! Chet gets along great with other dogs but is more of a people pleaser and warms up to girls much easier, especially female dogs. He’s extremely smart, friendly, and mellow for the most part but will go berserk for a ball, especially if it squeaks. He’s also fantastic off-leash (In appropriate areas) even though he’s a lightning fast sighthound and could take off anytime he wants to. So, I usually let him have his freedom to sniff as many square feet of grass as he can, and he knows his boundaries. He’s a moderately anxiety-ridden dog as most ex-racers are so he can be a bit stubborn when stressed, but is very obedient and has done incredible improving his social skills around other dogs and reacting to over-intrusive dogs. I’ve had him for over a year and love my boy to death! As for me, I love all dogs and have been with dogs all shapes and sizes. I usually stay active with Chet, even though he doesn’t mind being a couch potato either. My dog allergies are hardly noticeable anymore even for the worst of shedding breeds, but are still moderate for some cats. I love cats also, I can definitely do drop in visits for cats but due to my allergies I can only do boarding for a few days at a time and likely only one cat at a time as well. Other than that, I’ve known my whole life that I’m exceptional with animals and seeing how good my boy has become just makes me that much more sure of myself, and proud of him. If you consider me I’d love to help out and maybe give your pet and Chet a new friend! 😃

Great sitter. My dog almost seemed sad coming home. I’ve used Brock a few times now and ginger loves him and his very friendly pooch.

Brock was great with my puppy! I’d definitely recommend him as a babysitter!

Information Brock H. would like to know about your pet

No specific breed preferences, may not be able to board for too long if he/she sheds/produces too much dander. Chet and I enjoy our laid back time so he gets along best with dogs who have their playfulness/energy under control. As much as I love all dogs that I see, I will not accept any that are listed as “doesn’t get along with other dogs,” no exceptions, in order to keep all dogs and humans safe in Chet and I’s environment.

A typical day

Chet and I are typically laid back chilling across from each other in the living room. We sure don’t mind being lazy, but can also go from 0-100 in a snap and we love to go crazy running around and playing when we do! Usually when we go out, Chet will walk alongside me off-leash and we play loads of fetch out in front of my apartment building!
