Proficient in Veterinary Technology

Pet care experience

Hi! I'm now available after a short hiatus. (Hence the gaps in the reviews) Recently married, my name is now Brittney Tyson Sporman. I have been caring for all sorts of animals for the majority of my life. I am owner to three wonderful doggos, four charismatic kitties, a grumpy hedgie (Nugget), and a little dinosaur (gecko) named Mochi. Since I developed such a love and joy for animal caregiving it seemed only right to pursue a career in the veterinary field. I started off as a kennel tech at my local humane society which eventually lead to me managing the cat section of the shelter. This was when I realized I am first and foremost a crazy cat lady. I gained experience in learning how to evaluate and treat illness as well as properly care for felines and canines. Once I mastered the basics of venipuncture, medication administration, and vaccines I had enough experience to get a job at a local veterinary clinic. There I acted as a receptionist, client care coordinator, and veterinary assistant. I counseled clients regarding nutrition, behavioral problems, obesity, parasite problems, geriatric, flea problems, pre- and post-operative care, treatment instructions, etc. as well as assisting veterinarians and technicians with pets and diagnostics as necessary. After doing this for a few years I became familiar with veterinary medical terminology and procedures, how to perform wellness examinations, and how to recognize significant changes in health and mentation. This led to me being able to get a job at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. I worked as an unlicensed veterinary technician in immediate and intensive care in Auburn’s emergency and critical care department for most of my career before going back to general practice. After working in general practice for one year I realized my passion was in emergency medicine and I started working at an emergency clinic as an overnight ICU nurse. After my grandmother got diagnosed with cancer I decided to take a step back from full time veterinary medicine as I was facing compassion fatigue and burn out. That’s when I decided not to let my 10+ years of experience go to waste and I started my “business”, Lemon’s Aid. "Lemon's Aid" was founded in honor of my special needs puppy, Lemon. It is my hope and ambition at Lemon's Aid to provide exceptional healthcare and pet sitting experiences for your pets with skilled nursing treatments, specialty care, convenient home-based visits, as well as home to hospital transportation. Nursing house calls and in home sitting help alleviate the stress and anxiety that pets, and their families can experience during traditional vet clinic or boarding facility visits. This business helps bring in income as well as gives me the flexibility needed to care for my family. I am veterinary CPR certified and have experience performing CPR on canines and felines. I also have completed other programs in the veterinary field including my Fear Free Certification in small animals and exotics as well as The AAFP's Cat Friendly Practice program.

Brittney went above and beyond for our pitbull who tends to be a little nervous as well as our hyper active German shepherd. Both dogs require daily medication and additional care and attention than the average dog and she was absolutely amazing. I am someone who worries about vacationing because of our dogs and Brittney’s constant communication and updates including pictures and videos of our pups made it the most relaxing vacation ever. She is by far the best Rover sitter we’ve ever had and we cannot thank her enough. We also came back to a cleaner house than what we left it as which was the best surprise. Brittney is clearly very knowledgeable in the animal medical field which was an added bonus for us on top of extremely happy pups when we returned! 😁

First time having Brittney stay at our home overnight and take care of our dog. We met in advance to make sure it was a good fit for both sides. She is super sweet! She had great communication and sent pictures multiple times owe day. Our home was clean and dog fed and well taken care of when we got home. She even left a note thanking us for allowing her to help us & sharing the events of the last day. Would recommend. Thanks, Brittney!

Brittney did an excellent job with house sitting/dog sitting my two mini dachshunds. I am very anxious about being separated from my pets but she put me at ease. I received daily progress reports and pictures of my babies, even a couple of them on some days. When I had an anxiety attack, I could text or call and she responded immediately with extra picture and report. Booking from the Rover website was easy. I was able to see reviews and ratings, making it easy to choose the service and sitter that I wanted.

Information Brittney T. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed preferences. It would be helpful to know if your dog/cat has any medical issues, your vet contact information, and if there is anything that might provoke your dog/cat to act inappropriately towards me. This will be discussed at our meet and greet so that I may have a written copy. Rather your dog loves to run around outside & explore nearby parks or prefers to cuddle indoors. I will make sure they feel safe and loved in their own environment.

A typical day

My goal is to always do what is best for the pet, and it varies on each pet’s primary interests. I am a very flexible sitter and am sensitive to the fact that every pet’s needs are different. I know leaving your loved one at home can be anxiety ridden for you, and your pet so I try to update and send pictures as much as possible. Extra house-sitting services are also offered. I can water plants, check the mail, leave lights on to make you look home, etc.
