Pet care experience

Hi there, my name is Brittany! After a short hiatus in Kentucky, I am back in action in the great state of Texas. I would love nothing more than to be trusted with your fur babies while you are away. As an overprotective pet parent myself, being given the responsibility and honor of caring for your pets is something that I do not take lightly. I am lucky to have a flexible career which makes planning your dog's stay with me a breeze. I work from home on a semi-secluded, 11 acre slice of heaven located on the Katy/Fulshear line. In addition, I help manage and run the horse farm and I rehab and retrain off the track thoroughbred racehorses in my spare time. I control my own schedule, so I am able to be flexible throughout the day for potty breaks, walks, cuddles and treats! I have years of experience working with timid and nervous animals, elderly animals, animals with anxiety, fear aggression, special allergies and dietary needs. My extensive knowledge and love for animals started at a young age; horses and dogs have been a staple in my life since before I could walk. My education furthered when I attended Texas A&M University and completed a pre-vet degree in Animal Science. Though life took me down other avenues with passions outside of the veterinary medicine field, my time spent inside and outside of the classroom has armed me with valuable knowledge to help me care for your pets. With my wide range of experience, I am comfortable with all different kinds and sizes of animals. I welcome all animals with open arms. No one will be turned down based on personality, breed or size alone. I know how to identify unwanted behaviors and redirect them quickly. I am also up to date on my Pet CPR and First Aid certifications. I own a Border Collie mix named Indy, who I rescued from a high kill shelter. I adopted her after learning that she was going to be a hard adoption case due to enduring a very abusive past. After months of patience and retraining, Indy is now a certified therapy dog who knows just about every trick and skill you can think of. She has turned into a super rambunctious and playful dog, so I am comfortable with your higher energy pets as well. Indy would love another playmate! I taught Indy everything that she knows all by myself. That being said, I am comfortable helping to enforce the obedience commands and practices you have in place at home, so that your dogs do not regress in their training while you are away. My ultimate goal is to make sure that your furchildren have a positive experience while you are away. After all, this should be a vacation for them, too! My pets are my children and that's how I treat them and how I will treat yours, too! My goal is to create the type of environment that I would want Indy to be in if I were traveling. This means that I put a huge amount of emphasis on daily exercise, interactive playtime and spoiling your animals rotten with unending love and socialization. This ensures that they get the attention they need to remain relaxed and happy. My 325+ 5 star reviews can speak for my character, and the love, attention and care that your animals receive while you are away. Like small children, animals thrive off of a set daily routine. Part of making sure your animals have an enjoyable experience is sticking to the routine that they are accustomed to. I will follow and enforce any rules, schedules and routines that you leave me with. Rest assured that your animals will be looked after and cared for like they are one of my own! I keep communication wide open so that you have peace of mind knowing your four legged family member is in a safe, loving environment while you are away. Some owners prefer not to be bothered on their vacation unless it’s an emergency. But other owners want to see how much fun their pets are having! So if requested, expect pictures and general updates of your beloved pet enjoying themselves here in doggy paradise! Because of the love I have for many of my clients and their furkids, I feel like they are family and that is EXACTLY how they will be treated. Listed below is more in depth detail on each of the services that I offer. Please scroll down to see what is included and expected for each service. **:DOG BOARDING INFO:** - Drop off and pick up times MUST be discussed and agreed upon in advance. We do not allow drop off/pick up “ranges” that exceed 20 minutes. These drop off and pick up times are needed in advance so that we can accurately price the stay. Drop off/pick up of your furbabies are by appointment only and run from 6:00am-7:00pm daily. For an additional after hours fee, extended drop off/pick up hours are offered from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Anything after 9:00pm will automatically roll over to the next day and a full additional night of boarding will be charged. Once you book your pups stay and we discuss drop off and pick up times, I will issue you a temporary guest user code that will work to get you in and out of the main gates of the farm. This temporary guest user code must be programmed in advance, and only stays active for 20 minutes at a time (it works for 10 minutes before the programmed time and for 10 minutes after the programmed time). This means that your promptness is extra important because if you arrive more than 10 minutes late, your guest user code will no longer be active and the gate will not successfully open for you. We are completely understanding that sometimes plans and travels do not go accordingly. All we ask is that you communicate those changes with us as soon as possible so that we can figure out a different time that works for both parties and I can reprogram the gate with a fresh code. I do also schedule errands and personal appointments around previously discussed drop off/pick up times, as I prefer to accomplish those things when we don’t have guests staying with us (if at all possible). For this reason, if you are not prompt or do not show up at your appointed pick up or drop off times without communication that something has changed, please note that we might not be able to accommodate you right away. “Late arrivals” may also be subject to a price increase as we will update the booking to reflect the correct drop off/pick up times accordingly. - Drop off day and pick up day interactions will remain strictly outside. No pet owners will be allowed inside of my home on either of these days. This is to help with dog stress levels so they don’t have to watch you leave and so your smell is no where inside the home. Dogs settle down quicker when their owners scent is not lingering all over the house. If you would like a tour of the inside living quarters that the dogs will be staying in, please reach out for a meet and greet prior to your dogs stay. - Pets will stay in my cozy and dog friendly home and receive all the benefits that my own dog receives daily. - Pets MUST be up to date on all yearly vaccinations (including Bordetella that is no older than 6 months) and must be on monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Proof of records and prevention will be required before booking. - Your pet(s) will enjoy my clean and relaxed living space and a very large fully fenced-in backyard (crowd favorite). - If your dogs are not bothered by the horses, they are free to run and play on the entire 11 acres. Indy would love to show them the best trees to chase the squirrels up in and the most shady spots to lay in the afternoon! With that much space to run on, it’s a guarantee that they will be worn out at the end of each day! Please note: because our property is securely fenced in with zero chance of a dog slipping through, as a safety to all, we do not typically allow dogs to play with collars or harnesses on. This is to prevent any catastrophic strangulation situations that may occur if the collar gets caught on teeth or wrapped around something. If you prefer that your dog keeps their collar on at all times, you will need to send them with a breakaway safety collar, as this is the only exception we allow to this rule. - For dogs who prefer time NOT around the horses, we have a separate fenced in backyard that is completely away from and out of site of the horses. The backyard is kept clean, feces-free and mud-free and still has plenty of space for running, wrestling and fetch! - While the backyard is completely secure and safely fenced in, it is slightly shorter than a 6 foot tall privacy fence. It is only 5 feet tall, so keep that in mind (and please alert me prior to your dogs stay) if your pets are habitual fence jumpers. We are completely secluded and I have never had any issues in the past. But I do like to be extra vigilant and take any necessary extra precautions should there be any possibility of that being an issue. - The farm is equipped with a large retention pond that many of our fur-guests enjoy using. If you have a water dog, they will LOVE swimming and playing fetch through it. - My dog and I typically go on a 30-45 minute walk each morning and another 30-45 minute walk in the evening. Dogs boarding with us are more than welcome to tag along FREE of charge. - Pets will follow their own personal schedules and routines laid out ahead of time. - Pets are allowed on all furniture and beds. Please note if animals are not allowed at home so that I can enforce those same rules here during their stay. - My home is filled with plenty of dog beds, treats, toys and bones. Treats, toys and bones are only offered during supervised times to prevent any unwanted interactions or injuries. - While your pets are welcome to everything here, please consider bringing any of your dog’s favorite toys, treats, and blankets/beds. It’s helpful to have comfort items that they are familiar with when entering new environments. - Owners are responsible for providing their pets normal food for the duration of the stay. Pre-portioned meals are not required but clear feeding amounts and instructions must be stated on the bag or given instruction sheet. - Pets will receive all my love and attention and the company of my own dog, Indy. Indy loves to play and wrestle so it is a guarantee that your dogs will come home tired and happy! - While staying in my home, pets MUST be okay being crated or separated into a different room via a doggy gate in the event that I step out for a short period of time. I work predominately from home and never overbook my time so, alone time is short and rare. However, I have a responsibility to keep your pet safe while under my care. By providing a safe space for your animals to go while left unattended we can make sure that: playtime doesn’t get out of hand, no one gets injured or hurt while unattended, no one gets into anything that could be not only destructive but harmful to themselves, and to eliminate puppies or male dogs from inappropriately marking the territory with their scent. If you feel that your dog may hurt themselves in a crate or may be destructive when closed off into a dog-proof large bedroom, pet boarding with me may not be the right fit for you. - The spare doggy bedroom/gated area that is used for those rare and short periods of time spent alone has a 24/7 video and audio surveillance camera system hooked up so that I can keep a watchful eye on your furry friends even while I am not there. The camera and audio feed live streams directly to my phone 24/7 and I get alerted for any abnormal noise and movement. - It is also important to note that I do live on top of a barn so you do have to take one flight of stairs to access it. I lift 50+ pound hay bales for a living so I am happy to help and/or carry your pets up and down them. But please keep this in mind for any elderly pets who may have mobility issues or trouble getting around in their golden years. - I do offer a pick up and drop off service for an additional fee if that is more convenient for you. - Your pets are taken care of here at Doggy Paradise, now what about your home? For an additional, per-trip fee I am happy to travel to your home to check in on it, collect any mail/packages/bins and water any plants. Knowing that all furry friends and your home are taken care of, you can remain 100% stress free while gone. DOG BOARDING PERSONAL ITEM CHECKLIST: Below is a check list of things to bring (as well as some things to consider bringing) with your dogs for their stay: - A copy of their vaccination records. Records need to show that all dogs are up to date on their vaccines and all vaccines must cover them through the last date of their stay. Bordetella must not be older than 6 months. Please note: if your pet is past due at the time of drop off for any of their vaccines, they will be turned away and no refund will be given. You will also be asked for the name of their flea/tick medication as well as the date of when it was last administered. These medications must be given exactly how the manufacture intended. For most medications, it is either monthly or quarterly. The date given must match the frequency of that medication or your pet may also be turned away. We work hard to keep our place flea and tick free. We kindly ask that you help us keep it that way. - Collar/harness and leash. We love to go on walks, but access to equipment that fits them in the event of an unplanned emergency is crucial to getting out in a quick manner. - Food for the duration of their stay. Meals do not need to be portioned out, but clear feeding instructions should be included. Please note: due to limited storage space and the risk of sickness from contamination, we will not feed a raw diet while dogs are in our care. We will feed kibble based food, wet/canned food, and food that can be safely kept fresh in the refrigerator for the entirety of the pets stay. - Dog bowls. We have spare metal bowls that the dogs can borrow, but some dogs are sensitive to what they are accustomed to. If your dog eats out of a slow feeder at home, please provide that as we do not carry those here. - Medications and supplements. Make sure that all medication is clearly labeled with the exact time of day each pill needs to be given, the frequency it is to be given and how they take it (cheese, peanut butter, pill pocket, etc.) - Their personal crates (ignore this if you selected that your pup(s) would do best in a gated off bedroom instead of a crate). This is COMPLETELY optional, but, it is encouraged. I do have a spare that the dog can borrow while they are here. However, many dogs are significantly more comfortable using the crate that they use daily at home. It smells like them already and can act as a ‘safe space’ in a potentially frightening new environment. Crates very in size and material, and being placed into a crate that is different than what they are used to can induce unnecessary stress. - Treats, toys, bones or dog bedding. We have treats that we are happy to share (with your permission, of course). We also have a variety of deer antlers and Nylabones that they are welcome to use as well. Plush toys, balls, and ropes are all on excess here too! Indy has 4 dog beds that she is happy to share (you can usually find her in my bed or on the couch anyways, hah), but you are welcome to bring your dogs favorite bed if you’d like! Bringing some of what they are used to at home can also be a real source of comfort for them. :DROP-IN VISITS INFO: - Drop ins are available 7 days a week between the hours of 6:00AM and 8:00PM. Meaning, our first available time slot starts at 6:00am and runs until 6:30am and our last available time slot starts at 7:30pm and finishes up right at 8:00pm. - Visits are 30 minutes long. If you would like me to stay longer, that can be arranged for an additional fee. - Visits consist of feeding, medicine administration, watering, potty breaks, playtime (wrestling on the floor, fetch, tug-a-war, frisbee, etc.) and snuggles. - This service includes complimentary mail/package retrieval, taking out and bringing in garbage cans and recycle bins, outdoor light cycling and plant/garden watering. FIRST TIME ROVER USERS SPECIAL: - Are you interested in receiving $20 off your first booking?! The following link is only good if you are a first time rover user who is booking me as your pets sitter. Use the profile link: https://www.rover.com/sit/brittany430 to book. Message me for a promo code to receive $20 off your first booking! **We have implemented a number of safety protocols due to the pandemic surrounding COVID-19. Our number one priority is keeping all of our furry friends and pet owners safe. We have figured out a way to provide top notch pet care while also keeping everyone safe in the process. For a list of our protocols and rules/regulations, please reach out to us. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who is non-compliment with our safety precautions. If you wish to not follow our safety precautions and would like to cancel your stay, please refer to our cancellation policy as full refunds may not be awarded. Thank you so much for considering myself for all of your pet sitting needs. I can't wait to become your fur babies new best friend! Don't hesitate to send me a message to inquire about a service or for any additional information. I look forward to hearing from you!

I cannot say enough about how amazing Britanny is!! It was our first time leaving our dog with anyone outside of family and it was best experience for us and our pup! Communication was impeccable and our high energy hunting breed dog had the most amazing time living the farm life!! He had the best time and we knew she was taking care of him like she would her own. He also loved her dog Indy which made his stay even that much better!

Brittany is absolute the best! She’s been watching our dog in the past 3 years now and our dog gets excited whenever we turn on her street. Can only recommend her!

Brittany and Indy were AMAZING!! They took care of our girl and had a huge space for Bella to embrace her hound! Brittany was also super understanding when I accidentally booked the wrong dates. Will definitely be going to her from now on!

I care for every single pet as if they were personally my own. I treat each animal as if I would want my animals treated if I was the one away. This means they are showered with constant love and attention. I ask that owners provide me with their pets typical schedule and I will follow that schedule to make sure that animals are cared for properly and het everything that they need.

Information Brittany E. would like to know about your pet

Prior to providing my services, I would like to know a little bit about: What does your pets typical daily routine/schedule look like? - Owners going away can be a stressful and confusing time for our beloved fur-babies. Keeping pets on their normal routine that their owners have created can help aid and reduce stress and anxiety. What time do they normally eat? When do they generally go out for potty breaks? How about walks? Does your pet have free range of the entire home or do they get closed off into a crate or room when left unattended? What time are they used to getting up and going to bed? These are all important details that must be discussed prior to a stay. Does your pet have any health issues and/or allergies that I should be aware of? - It is important that you disclose of all health related problems so that I can remain conscious of any potential limitations and be on the lookout for first signs of any issues. I am happy to administer any medications if the medicine provided is labeled with clear instructions. - If your furry friend has any known seasonal allergies or food allergies, these are important to disclose, too. It helps me to avoid providing any treats or environments that could cause flare up in your pets body. What is your pets personality? Please disclose any abnormal quirks, too! - Is your pet shy or rambunctious? Is it normal for them to have a loss of appetite while you are away? Do they ever get an upset tummy when you go on vacation? If so, is there anything that can be done to relieve it? Does your pet have any separation anxiety? Does your pet have any aggressive tendencies towards things such as: their food, toys, treats, bones, people, or other dogs/cats? In the event that your pet sees another human or dog on a walk, does it have a record of barking, lunging or pulling? Does your pet have any storm or firework anxiety? Does your pet have a history of door-dashing, fence jumping or slipping loose on a walk out of a harness or collar? Does your pet enjoy fetch, tug-of-war, walks or does it prefer to stay on the couch and cuddle?

A typical day

Dogs can partake in tranquil and enjoyable strolls down my quiet, dead end one mile long street. Dogs will enjoy my 3/4 acre, large fully fenced in backyard that sits on a hill. The yard backs up to a creek so it is peaceful and away from people and neighboring farm life. Dogs can enjoy playtime with their friends and siblings. Playtime can include a game of chase, wrestling or fetch. Dogs who are not fearful of the horses may run and play though the entire 11 acres that is fully fenced in. With so much space there is no doubt they will come in pooped! Dogs can choose from plenty of fun and interactive toys, balls and bones from any 3 of the toy chests in my home. My dog and I enjoy hiking nature trails and trips to the dog park in our spare time. If your dog is down for that then they can come along, too! Does your pooch like car rides? Mine LOVES THEM! Her favorite adventure is to Starbucks to indulge in a Puppaccino. With the approval of mom or dad, yours could experience one too! While all of these are cool activities, there is no better replacement for snuggling on the couch or dog bed with a warm, fuzzy blanket. Never ending kisses, pets and belly rubs!
