I really feel in love with taking care of other animals when I was 10 years old. This was my 1st job helping out my neighbors, they paid me cheap to come over one day a week to feed and let out those two dogs. Needles to say I went above and beyond. Back then $5 was what they paid me so I could save up for my own dog. Even though they only asked for me for one day, I was always over there loving the dogs, picking and dropping off for walks almost every night. The only time walks didn’t happen was if it was storming out. One of their dogs would go and hide when a storm was coming under their outside building. She would only come to me when this happened. When I moved away to go to college there were several times they had to call me and put me on speaker to get the dog out. I loved these dogs like they were my own. I did this with all the neighbors dogs. Looking back now pay wasn’t great for the service I offered but the bond with all the animals was worth it. What sets me a side from other pet sitters is that I don’t see them as a paycheck. I make a bond with the animals. If the animal doesn’t like you or trust you it makes things very hard.
