Pets are family
Pet care experience
I love dogs and I don’t believe dogs should be in a cage all day. Pets are like family. Pets should be cared for and loved like a part of the family.
Reviews
I cannot lie and say I was pleased with this service. This is the 1st time I've used Rover for a sitter. I would actually take my dog with me or would leave him at Petsmart pet hotel. I had to cut my trip short as I was terribly worried about my dog. My dog means the world to me and it pained me that I could've left him in a potentially dangerous situation. Although Brenda attempted to soothe my concerns, deep down I knew something was wrong. I have been so distraught that it has taken me a few days to really sit down and write this review. I dropped off a healthy, happy, thriving dog even at the age of 11. The vet has always complimented me about the care I gave to my dog and that he is way too frisky for his age. About a week or 2 into the stay, I got a text that my dog wasn't moving around much and he was lying down all day. That has never happened to him. Like I said previously, he is always running around the house playing like a young dog at his age. She mentioned that it could be that the temperature had dropped and he possibly had arthritis. I was never told this by his vet before. I knew then that something was wrong. A few days later she said he was moving around more and I felt a little better. What really had me canceling my contract and coming home early is when she texted me that he was vomiting and that she wanted to take him to the vet. After speaking with her on the phone, I was enlightened that he was might have been eating the other dogs' food. Any pet owner knows that a dog cannot just change his diet. My dog is on a special diet which I made her aware of at the time of the booking. I told her to give him Pedialyte ice pops since she said he wasn't eating. The following day she said he was doing better. When I finally arrived a few days later to pick up my dog, she brought him out in her arms. He was wagging his tail when he saw me. When she handed him to me, I was shocked at how light his weight was. She handed me his stuff and when she gave me his crate I realized it was covered in dried feces. My dog is potty trained. At that moment I asked her if he also had diarrhea? She said yes and at no time was I told that he had had diarrhea. Only that he was vomiting. She handed me his food which had only a 1/4 bag left. In the instructions, I told her that my dog should get 1/2 cup per day. How could a full 35-pound bag have 1/4 left when I gave her a opened full bag that I had only previously used for only 1 day? His previous weight before going there was 15.8 lbs. I got him back at 13.2 lbs. You might say he had diarrhea and was vomiting, but I'm an acute care nurse practitioner and I know a 2-pound weight loss did not happen just happened by vomiting and diarrhea. That is a significant weight loss in a small dog. She also did not return his harness and leash and tried to give me someone else's. The excuse I got was that she might have given it to another owner. If you are going to watch a number of dogs, why wouldn't you label their belongings? His previous one was expensive and I had to incur the loss by buying a whole new set. My dog has been withdrawn since coming home. One might say he was homesick, but it's more than that. My dog has not barked since he has been home. The vet says it's stress from a bad experience. I'm truly hurt and disappointed. I dropped off a healthy, happy, thriving dog that loves to play. I received a timid, withdrawn, nervous dog that is not barking. When I put out his food after arriving home, he was shaking like he is scared to eat. He has slowly started to come around. He is eating, drinking and slowly started playing with his toys around the house. I also left 2 stuffed toys with her and she returned one saying the dogs destroyed the other. I will never use this service again. I give her 2 stars for the pictures she would send and that she told me she would love on him. But there is no love in his appearance and how received my dog and his belongings.
Brenda was great with my 2 huskies. We all know huskies can be a handful but I know they had a good time there with her. Will definitely rebook her again.
