My goal is to interact by talking softly, petting, feeding and walking the dog. My experience as a previous dog owner, and instincts as a mother and nurse will have me looking out for the pet's safety and comfort. I wish I had another dog, but knowing the 24/7 responsibility makes it hard to commit at this time. I think often about fostering or adopting from a Collie Rescue Group, but will wait until the timing is right. I adopted my Collie from the SPCA in Staunton. He was about 5, knew no commands and was a little wary of sudden movements. By the time he went to glory at age 13, he was the happiest healthiest dog ever. We treated him like royalty! So spending a little time here and there with dogs might be a win-win situation.
