I have never not had a dog. My family has always had rescues, some of which with special needs, and they are the joy of our lives. I have a lot of energy and patience to gift these animals. I am rewarded by their companionship and I love it. I also worked at a pet store for a few years, so I know a bit about aiding health issues and training. I believe that should be helpful.
