My girlfriend and I accepted a 4 month old puppy from a friend that ended up moving to Europe to study abroad. He was not house trained at all and was an avid barker. As time went on we were able to break him of his bad habits and train him to be the dog we had always wanted. I then lived with a friend who was training a purebred German Shepard with a Houston county k9 officer. After several months we worked tirelessly to open the fridge and ignore everything in it except for water bottles and cans of soda. On command, he would retrieve whatever we had instructed him to get us from the fridge and then he would close it. We could also let him out in the fenced in yard and leave the door cracked and when he heard a whistle or got bored outside, he would come in and shut the door himself.
