Pet care experience
Hi there! I'm Blake and am a freshman at Sterling College. I love animals dearly and am looking to help you out. I am the President of Friends of Animals Rice County, and go there every few days to volunteer with the animals. I cuddle with the cats, play with the dogs, work on their training, and take them out for walks right across the street at Sterling Lake. I have had many hours of one-on-one time with every variety of dog, including dogs with special needs, seniors, and puppies. Being in college, my schedule isn't as constant for hours like a full-time job or even high school. I have hour long breaks between many of my classes. On the weekends my schedule is very flexible and I can most likely adjust it to your needs. I would be available for multiple walks and drop-ins on every day of the week. I'm happy to even send you my weekly schedule for you to decide when works best for you. During the holidays I go back home to Ellsworth, but I am happy to still travel down to Sterling for house sitting if you're traveling! I have a 3 year old corgi at home named Koda - she was my first experience with dogs. Over a year ago I discovered the animal rescue, and I have gained so much experience and learned about how to take care of every type of dog. I am a freshman in college right now, so unfortunately I can't do overnight boarding. Otherwise I'm your go-to gal! I enjoy taking fast-paced walks and will use a training collar if you'd like. I am also happy to work on their manners and training if you'd be interested in that. I know how to perform the heimlich and CPR on both cats and dogs. Frankly, I just want to help owners take care of their dogs. I know what it's like wanting the best for your pet and receiving love and attention - if you have a hectic schedule, that can be difficult. I'm here to help out.
Reviews
Blake’s services are very much appreciated. She is professional and great to work with. My dog loved the exercise and attention and I felt good knowing she was getting a break out of the kennel!
Blake would make a great dog sitter and anyone that hires her will find that out very quickly. She is very passionate about her animals and if I had a dog I would not hesitate to hire her. Blake is the current president for the Friends of Animals, Rice County organization. She has brought so much to this group and is truly a blessing. Not only is Blake a caring person that loves dogs, she is very dependable and trustworthy. I would highly recommend Blake to care for your dog(s).
Blake is a huge animal lover! She does a great deal of volunteering here at the vet clinic in Sterling. She is responsible, spunky, and very trustworthy. Pets are in the BEST hands with Blake.
Blake joined our rescue group almost two years ago and has become a vital asset to our organization. She is very responsible, attentive to detail, loves the animals and continues to amaze me with her limitless enthusiasm. I would trust her with my pets in an instant. Tina Schlotterback

Information Blake P. would like to know about your pet
I would like to have a quick meet and greet with the owner before sitting them to discuss their behavior, personality, and anything I need to know. I do not have any breed preferences and have had experience with all sizes of dogs, from a 5 pound poodle I could hold in the palm of my hand to a 110 pound Great Dane/St. Bernard mix.
A typical day
My favorite place to walk around is Sterling Lake. The paved sidewalk is covered in shade almost the whole time, and the water gives a nice breeze. We can walk all around town. My leash has a clip that wraps around my stomach which helps me with stubborn or large dogs. I also have training treats and poop bags with me. If it's hotter out, I do always test the temperature of the pavement with my hand to make sure I don't hurt or damage your pup's paws. We'll play fetch to your dog's heart's content. I can work with them on manners and training at your home. I am happy to bath them as long as you have their shampoo. I can trim their nails as long as they are decently cooperative with their paws being touched. Anytime your pet wants to snuggle I am happy to oblige.
