I have had one Yorkie Terrier in my household from Age 12 up through when I left for college, so I have plenty of experience with training pads, throwing toys across the room and giving pets. Nowadays she sleeps around my parents' house, but I still make time to stop by on my visits home and show her affection. All that is to say, despite years of being convinced I was purely a "Dog Person", I've come to realize I love cats just as much! When my partner and I lived together, I provided care for her cat as if it were my own. I was very reliable when it came to feeding and playing with him, distracting him with chicken meat tubes for easier nail clipping, and especially taking out the dreaded Litter Bag when the time came. I can now recognize the difference in behaviors and needs between cats and dogs to provide the best kind of care possible to whichever friend I have the pleasure of looking after. I also have proven, trustworthy experience with entering people's homes to provide services like Rover's. I used to work for an in-home concierge service (getting groceries, lightly cleaning surfaces, etc) where I would be trusted with the keys to the clients' apartments, enter (often without the resident being home), do what needs doing and move on to the next client. Of course, many clients would have dogs or cats, so it was my sworn duty to prevent them from getting out of the residence when I was present and feed them a treat or two for good behavior! I've been told I have a generally calming aura about me and I'm pretty soft-spoken, so pets that are skittish to louder noises and personalities don't have anything to worry about. I make sure to meet cats and dogs on their own terms and don't reach out to pet them unless I'm sure they're ready and comfortable with me first!
