Outdoors lover seeks canine pals

Pet care experience

I enjoy meeting dogs and learning about their unique personalities. Dogs see the world and people differently than humans do, in a way that's beautiful. If your pup stayed with me, we would start our morning with a potty break, some breakfast and then we would either go for a walk around the neighborhood or head out to the beach to spend some time playing. We would also have some downtime around the middle of the day for us both to rest, and then we would go for another walk before I headed to work in the evening. I like to head down to Ocean Beach and walk along the water for a while and if your pup is good off leash, we can play a little fetch. We would take some time to explore the dunes before walking back uphill to the city. I spend most of my spare time hiking around the Bay Area, walking around San Francisco or surfing in the Pacific Ocean. My whole life I’ve wanted a dog, but as a child I didn't have a dog of my own, despite desperately wanting one so I “adopted” my best friend's Golden Retriever, which taught me how to be confident in interacting with dogs from a young age. By the time I finally got a dog at the age of 14 I felt confident in learning to love and train her and when I was a teenager, I started picking up dog sitting gigs for teachers and friends, which I continued to do throughout my college years. I've also taken care of cats and birds also -- I think cats are fun because they have their own agenda and opinions on life -- and birds are extremely clever and you can see that when you watch them play and interact with you. As a Rover sitter, I take customer service very seriously and I believe it is all about paying attention to clients and their pets. If you're not listening to a dog parent, you're listening to the dog and learning to understand what needs they have

Bethany is a wonderful friend to our dog, Echo. She has taken him on walks and done drops ins, staying the full time tiring our lil buddy out. She is quick to respond to requests, puts plenty of pictures on the Rover cards, and is trustworthy with our space and pets. Would definitely recommend her

I contacted her only 4days before of the dog/house sit day but Bethany was happily accepted the stay with my fur babies. I have a Shibainu/Corgi mix and two cats. One of the cat was actually I was cat sitting for my mom while she was away for her vacation. My Shinainu/Corgi mix Momo is skeptical 5years old. Usually it takes time for her to be comfortable with strangers and she needs that persons visit quite often til she gets used to with the person. She was fine with her for the meet up before the sitting. She even let Bethany touch her and let Bethany pet her. She was nervous at first but at the night of house sit, she was comfortable enough that she cuddled up with Bethany the night of stay. She was totally cool with taking care of my dog and 2cats. Bethany was friendly and reliable person and I highly recommend her as your dog sitter.

Bethany is loving and attentive with my rescue pup Emma, who can be a bit of a handful. She has watched her for me many times and is always responsive and available when I need to get in touch, and sends me photos of their adventures when they're together, which keeps me from worrying when I travel. I know Bethany to be responsible and very in tune with what Emma needs, without letting her get away with too much :) I would recommend bethany to anyone who needs a pal to take care of their pup when at work or traveling.

Bethany has house/dog sat for us several times. Emma loves her! She follows all instructions to the letter in terms of training, behavior, and feeding and Emma is always so happy to see her. She is consistent and punctual with exercise and does an excellent job managing Emma's social interactions. We will definitely hire her again to take care of our pup!

Information Bethany H. would like to know about your pet

I prefer to meet dogs in an environment where they're comfortable and that is a part of their daily routine -- I think this helps the dog to be at ease when we first meet. As far as breed preferences, I would choose to take care of a Labrador over a Chihuahua, and I'd choose a Pit Bull over a Pomeranian. Before I meet a potential client, I would also need to know if their dog has any particular behavioral quirks that can be challenging, any medical needs or any physical limitations.

A typical day

Our day would start with the necessary morning potty break, some breakfast and then a walk around the neighborhood or we would head out to the beach for some extra special playtime. By midday, we would have some downtime to rest before heading out on another walk. I love to head over to Ocean Beach to walk along the water and if your pup is well-behaved off leash, we can play fetch. We would also be sure to take some time to explore the dunes before walking back uphill to the city. I’m also up for any number of hikes around the Bay Area, or just tooling around San Francisco.
