We got our first dog when I was almost 4 years old. He was a miniature schnauzer named Nick. Over the years we have had five schnauzers. My parents had one or two after the divorce, and my last one, Oscar, was my baby boy for 12 years. The last four years of his life he was my little travel buddy. Oscar really was like my own child. He always came first. My father taught me how to groom him. I was very diligent about his weekly baths. I loved our walks together, especially in the spring and fall when the weather was very nice. Although I have been talking about one particular breed, I love all dogs. Any breed whether is male or female. Or whether it's a mixed breed or a shelter rescue. My oscar has been gone for 4 years now, and I don't think I'm quite ready to get another dog myself. However I do greatly miss the company and affection of dogs (and cats too).
